Cooperation : The priorities of co-operation were determined during the meetings in Washington
 
The Turkmen delegation took part in the meeting of the member countries of the Framework Agreement on Trade and Investment among the Central Asian states and the USA (TIFA) held in Washington. Within the framework of the third TIFA meeting the representatives of Turkmenistan, the USA, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan informed each other about the priority directions of the social and economic development of their countries and discussed a wide spectrum of issues concerning the trade development and improvement of investment policy and legislative basis.

The head of the Turkmen delegation the Minister of Economy and Finance H.Geldymuradov introduced the key aspects of the reform policy implemented by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to the participants of the meeting.

The high-ranking officials of the US administration including the Deputy U.S. Secretary D. Sullivan and Assistant U.S. Secretary R. Boucher noted that the American government is interested in the development of the trade and economic relations with Turkmenistan.

The representatives of the largest financial structures, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in particular demonstrated their interest in the reforms carried out in Turkmenistan and expressed the readiness to train highly qualified specialists and render assistance in developing private sector.

During the meeting it was proposed to hold the fourth TIFA meeting in Ashgabat in 2008.
