On these days the delegation of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom headed by Michael Cromartie is visiting the Turkmen capital. On August 20, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov received the American guests.

The US delegation was received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Mejlis Committee for Human Rights and Freedoms. The American guests had the meetings at the Turkmen Institute of Democracy and Human Rights under President of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education, the State Agency for Foreign Citizens and other national departments of Turkmenistan. Exchanging views on the issues of mutual interest the interlocutors suggested intensifying the constructive dialogue on a basis of the centuries-old spiritual traditions adhered to by the two nations. In this regard the opportunities of implementing joint projects and programmes were discussed.

Today, the US delegation has had a meeting at the Council for Religion under President of Turkmenistan. The meetings at the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting Activities were scheduled. The US delegation intends to visit the spiritual temples of the confessions of faith acting in the country. The American guests will visit the National Institute of Manuscripts and the Turgut Ozal Turkmen-Turkish school and the sights of the capital city.
