On October 8, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov made a working trip around Ashgabat to inspect the construction sites and to define the location for site development.

The President first visited the northern part of the Turkmen capital. Vice Premier N. Shaguliev and Ashgabat Khyakim D. Orazov reported on the proposed location of a new trade center including the wholesale and retail market. The high-ranking officials informed the Turkmen leader that the Ministry of Trade and Consumer’s Co-Operation had announced the international tender for construction of the trade center. The project would be launched as soon as the contractor was chosen.

Approving the decision on the location of the new trade center Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov put emphasis on compliance of construction works with the international standards. The Turkmen leader focused on improvement of the adjacent territory. In particular, the President instructed to reconstruct the road leading to the trade center and build the bus stops along the highway. The President instructed to elaborate and submit the proposals to reduce the risk of subsoil waters in that part of the city. The Turkmen leader said that an integrated approach should be taken to the tasks and the work should be considered an important aspect of urban infrastructure development.

The housing development design of the northern part of Ashgabat along Neutrality Avenue where modern supermarkets and administrative buildings would be built was presented to the Turkmen leader. Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov approved the projects and noted that the supermarkets could be passed into the private ownership. The President said that the representatives of the Turkmen private sector could invest in the construction projects thus laying the foundation for their future business.

Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov put emphasis on an acceleration of the housing development programme and demanded to ensure the high quality and reliability of newly-built constructions. The high-ranking officials informed the Turkmen leader that a number of apartment houses for dozens of the families from Ashgabat would be put into operation on the eve of the 16th anniversary of Turkmenistan Independence
