The S. Seydi State Music and Drama Theatre was afforded the honour of presenting Turkmen dramatic art at the XIX International Festival for Experimental Theatre in Cairo, Egypt. The artistic groups from 56 countries worldwide took part in the festival.

The Lebap artists presented the Syrak play by Govshutgeldy Danatarov to the colleagues and guests of the forum. It is the story about the greatness of spirit and genuine patriotism was cordially welcomed by the audience. The values common to all mankind are understandable to everybody irrespectively of the nationality or race.

The ruler’s son Syrak sacrificed his life to save his motherland. Having disguised himself as a shepherd he came to meet the enemy troops and led them away into the waterless desert. The enemies revealed the hero’s secret and murdered Syrak. Tormented with unquenchable thirst the troops died in the desert…

Producer Mekan Silapov staged the play. Honoured Artist of Turkmenistan Akchagul Sukhanova, Babageldy Rejepov, Ogulbossan Yazjumaeva, Babamurat Ashirov acted the key parts.

The performance is the winner of the national contest among cultural workers, artists and literary men.
