Compatriots meet in the Afghan land

The priority directions of the policy of national revival Turkmenistan proclaimed on the first days after gaining independence include enhancement of the contacts with the compatriots residing abroad. Nowadays, millions of the ethnic Turkmen residing in different countries worldwide have an opportunity to communicate with the people from the historical homeland and to know about the grandiose reforms carried out in the blessed ancient land in the new historical epoch. Thus, a meeting of the compatriots - the residents of the Herat province members of the Cultural Organisation of Turkmen Youth was held at the Consulate of Turkmenistan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

The presentation on President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov’s policy and the large-scale reforms initiated by the Turkmen leader and aimed to increase the Turkmen people’s wellbeing and Turkmenistan’s prestige on the world arena was of great interest to the guests. Upon concluding the ceremony the members of the Cultural Organisation of Turkmen Youth received the gifts - the textbooks for primary schools and Turkmen national costumes on behalf of the Turkmen President

The Cultural Organisation of Turkmen Youth founded in Afghanistan in 2002 consists of almost 1,000 members, who attend the Dari and English and the computer courses. It works much to strengthen the relations with the historical homeland.

The representatives of the Turkmen diaspora residing in the Herat province and the members of the Cultural Organisation of Turkmen Youth expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov for Turkmenistan’s goodwill towards Afghanistan and assistance in maintaining peace in the country. The participants said that the Turkmen leader’s positive initiatives and policy of peace, good neighbourliness and openness ardently supported by the compatriots residing in Afghanistan promoted strengthening and furthering the friendly relations between the two nations.
