A workshop organised by the Turkmen National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights under President of Turkmenistan and UN Development Programme (UNDP) was held in Ashgabat

On October 6, the people of Turkmenistan commemorated the mournful day – Commemoration Day keeping alive the memory of the victims of the destructive disaster – the 1948 Ashgabat earthquake. 59 years have passed since one of the memorable and tragic events in the Turkmen history the memory of which still echoes with pain in the hearts of citizens of Turkmenistan. At night on October 5-6 at 1.12 a.m. the disaster of the enormous force leveled the beautiful and blooming city and its outskirts to the ground, all of a sudden stopped the lives of over 170,000 our compatriots bringing the bitterness of orphanage and irretrievable losses

On October 6, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov chaired a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers to consider the current top priority issues of the national policy
