The New Year’s Eve celebrations took place on the central city square in the Turkmen capital bringing together thousands of the people and guests of Ashgabat. The people of five regions of the country received an opportunity to participate in the celebrations via the up-to-date communications facilities – the TV bridge.
The central square in front of the Presidential Palace was festively decorated. The 30-metre New Year’s tree, music and songs, children’s cheerful voices created the unique atmosphere of the bright and enchanting holiday in the fairytale town. The most remarkable and important events of the year 2007, which had gone down in history of the Motherland as the year of the tone events and changes, were reflected on the big screen installed near the concert stage.
The popular singers and dance groups of Ashgabat, the actors of the circus and the municipal theatres, humourists, the amateur artistic groups of the higher educational establishments and music schools, the Children’s and Youth Palace and of course, Father Frost and Snow Maiden took part in the bright show.
Via the TV bridge the regions joined the participants of the celebrations in Ashgabat. The big monitors were installed in the administrative centres on the squares in front of the magnificent buildings – the Ak Bugday Museum in the Ahal Velayat and the theaters recently constructed in Mary, Dashoguz, Turkmenabat and Balkanabat.
The elders, the velayat khyakims and the respected people of the regions congratulated and wished a happy New Year to the leader and the people of Turkmenistan. The songs were heard, the dances created by the inspiration and talent of the people of the ancient and fertile Turkmen land.
The year 2007 was an epoch making one for the regions for the important initiatives and undertakings to offer a powerful incentive to the social and economic development of the regions, implementation of their profound economic and natural potential. The fundamental reforms implemented throughout the country came to the most remote areas.
The representatives of the regions mentioned the important facilities built and put into operation in Turkmenistan in 2007 including the cotton spinning factory in Abadan town, the cotton cleaning plant in Ruhabat, a power station in Dashoguz, the large-scale oil and gas faculties in almost all regions.
The epoch of new revival will be remarkable for the grandiose projects including the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline project, the North-South transnational transport and communications corridor, and the Avaza National Project aimed at turning the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea into the large centre of international tourism and health resort.
A number of the newly constructed buildings will be held throughout the country in the nearest future. Medial centres, schools and kindergartens, the buildings of higher educational establishments, stadiums and water sports facilities will be out into operation and supplied with up-to-date equipment.
The Turkmen capital – the heart of the independent Motherland embodying the new epoch and symbolizing the national revival concluded the festive roll call. The cultural workers, numerous artistic groups, who had gathered on the central city square on that night, joined the greetings and wishes of the elders and khyakim of Ashgabat.
Then President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov addressed to the people of Turkmenistan with the cordial congratulations and heartfelt wishes. The feeling of great joy and pride for their independent Motherland, the present and the future of the native land united the people of Turkmenistan during those exciting and solemn minutes.
The celebrations ended in the grandiose fireworks, which coloured the night sky above Ashgabat with myriads of the bright constellations to adult’s and children’s joy |
