President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai.

Exchanging the heartfelt greetings the leaders of the two countries discussed the progress of the agreements reached during the Afghan leader’s official visit to Turkmenistan.

Expressing satisfaction at the dynamics of development of the bilateral relations based on the original traditions of good neighborliness and mutual readiness to help the presidents exchanged views on the situation formed due to the abnormally cold weather in the region and the consequences for the people of neighbouring Afghanistan, in particular.

In this regard Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov expressed sympathy and encouragement to the people of Afghanistan and said that the people of Turkmenistan standing steadfast to the relations of friendship and fraternity with the Afghan people granted food, children’s clothes, diesel fuel to the neighbours.

Cordially thanking for the generosity, active support and assistance Hamid Karzai noted that the Afghan people would highly appreciate the goodwill the Turkmen brothers demonstrated on these severe winter days. The leader of the neighbouring state invited Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov to visit Afghanistan. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. The dates of the visit would be agreed through the diplomatic channels.

Upon concluding the telephone conversation Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Hamid Karzai expressed the best wishes of peace and wellbeing to the peoples of the two countries.
