A meeting of the Turkmen cultural workers and artists was held in the Turkmen capital. The forum was organised by the Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting Activities on two remarkable occasions – the 1st anniversary of Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov’s presidency and National Flag Day. The people of different creative professions, the librarians and museum workers, the teachers and students of the higher educational establishments gathered under the domes of the Mukam Palace.

The participants discussed the trends of the further activities of the national cultural establishments. Emphasis was put on the tasks set forth in the National Programme of the President of Turkmenistan on improvement of the social and living conditions in villages, settlements, towns in the etraps and etrap centres. These included construction of libraries, museums, specialized schools supplied with advanced technologies and up-to-date equipment throughout the country, establishment of the artistic groups and improvement of the work of the cultural institutions in the regions.

The participants emphasized that the concern for the beauty of constructive labour and everyday life, aesthetic development of the people, support of the creative activities had become the state, nationwide concern and therefore, training highly qualified specialists to work in rural areas was of particular importance. In this regard the participants focused on implementation of the educational reforms initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, expansion of wide international cultural co-operation.
