The state visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Turkmenistan was a tremendous success. The visit was paid at the beginning of spring and there is the deep and special sense in this coincidence. Indeed, the relations between the neighbouring countries the fraternal peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have entered the golden age. The meeting in the Uzbek capital, which followed the top-level talks in Ashgabat, proved that even more than vividly. Tashkent welcomed the Turkmen leader not only with hospitality as it is required on such occasions but also a true friend and brother that means the highest recognition of a guest’s virtue in the East.
The sincere hospitality and heartfelt welcome extended to the Turkmen leader in the Uzbek land, numerous flags, greeting banners, the open and smiling faces, traditional festive food - all that testified to the special enthusiasm our Uzbek friends had when preparing for the remarkable meeting. On a large scale, it served as the recognition of the Turkmen leader’s role on the world political arena, and in development of the Turkmen-Uzbek political dialogue, which had entered at a new historical stage. This stage was conditioned by the policy of new Revival and wide international co-operation consistently pursued by the Turkmen leader.
Conferring the title Honoured Doctor of the Tashkent Medial Academy, one of the most prestigious research and educational centres in Uzbekistan, to the Turkmen leader was a vivid token of recognition of the Turkmen leader’s progressive foreign policy strategy and the grandiose social and economic reforms initiated by the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s service and personal contribution to development of the modern medical science. It should be noted that speaking about the outcomes of the foreign policy strategy pursued by the nationwide elected leader of Turkmenistan President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov said that the ultimate goal of this strategy - to guarantee the worthy life to the Turkmen people and to enhance the country’s prestige on the world arena.
For the peoples of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan the top-level meeting was a breakthrough towards establishing the closer mutually advantageous contacts. The talks were held in the constructive atmosphere of confidence and mutual understanding meeting the interests of both nations that was emphasized by the leaders in their speeches as well as the mass media, which covered broadly the Turkmen leader’s to the Republic of Uzbekistan.
That was irrefutably evidenced by the bilateral documents signed upon concluding the top-level talks and replenishing the solid legal base and serving as the guide for action for furthering the constructive international dialogue. The Agreement on Co-operation in the Agro-Industrial Sector between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan stipulating for collaboration in delivering agricultural machines, mineral fertilizers and other agro-industrial products manufactured in Uzbekistan, exchanging experience in cattle breeding and poultry keeping, cultivating cotton, grain and other agricultural crops, selective breeding, developing water industry, agrochemistry and introducing market economy is of particular importance. The document fosters the scientific contacts among agrarian scientists of both countries.
The top-level talks were focused on further co-operation in the humanitarian sphere based on the centuries-old historical, cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations and nowadays standing as an important factor of development of the fruitful intergovernmental dialogue. In this context Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Islam Karimov called for expanding the contacts in the sphere of education, science and culture. Special significance of development of this sphere was confirmed during the meeting of the Turkmen governmental delegation with the representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, the public of Uzbekistan, the teachers and students of the higher educational establishment of Tashkent. That was proved by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s trip to Samarqand - the city preserved the priceless evidence of the time when the Turkmen and the Uzbek peoples were bound with the Great Silk Route in its historical and architectural monuments and museums pieces.
Nowadays, at a new stage of development of the Turkmen-Uzbek dialogue the spiritual ties and friendly relations between our peoples are demanded as never before. This fact was proved by the remarkable event - laying the foundation stone of the new building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan, which had taken place during the Turkmen leader’s visit to Uzbekistan. Speaking at the ceremony Islam Karimov said that he regarded the fact of laying the foundation of the new building of the Turkmen diplomatic mission as evidencing the bright future of Turkmen-Uzbek partnership as well as exemplifying the genuine good neighbouring relations. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov regarded the start of construction of the new building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan as demonstrating new opportunities, new approaches to further expanding co-operation between two neighbouring countries and nations. These words contain the essence the foreign policy strategy of independent neutral Turkmenistan that stands as an initiator of wide international co-operation based on the principles of transparency, equality, healthy pragmatism and respect to the mutual interests.
In this regard the Turkmen leader’s visit to Tashkent became another step proving Turkmenistan’s endeavours to steer consistently this constructive course. |
