
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Chairman of Board of Commerzbank Martin Blessing.
Thanking the Turkmen leader for the hospitable welcome and the opportunity of a personal meeting Mr. Martin Blessing said that he was glad to visit Turkmenistan and to see the changes, which were of intense interest to the world community, with his own eyes. The guest said that the European community welcomed the Turkmen leader’s progressive initiatives and reaffirmed the readiness of the Commerzbank - one of the largest financial structures in Germany and the European Union, for full-scale co-operation with Turkmenistan.

Greeting the guest Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan and Germany were bound with long-term close partnership which had entered the phase of dynamic development at the bilateral level as well as in the framework with the Turkmenistan-EU constructive dialogue. Noting that Turkmenistan was always ready for mutually advantageous and fruitful co-operation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed belief that the Commerzbank as well as other German companies would rank among Turkmenistan’s dependable partners.
Briefing the guest on the reform programme implemented in Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the key aspects of the reforms in economy, in particular the financial sphere. The Turkmen leader said the ultimate goal of the national policy was accelerated increase of the welfare of the Turkmen people and the country’s advance to the level of the developed countries through applying the best international practice and expanding international co-operation. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the results of this policy had been received: Turkmenistan with the favourable investment climate was a ground of mutually advantageous partnership with different countries and the world’s large companies.
Informing of the intense interest in collaborating with Turkmenistan Mr. Martin Blessing said that dozens of the European large companies – the clients of the Commerzbank were operating on the very promising Turkmen market. To foster and expand co-operation between Turkmenistan and the EU member countries Mr. Martin Blessing put forward the proposal to open a branch of the Commerzbank that would render a wide spectrum of financial services in Turkmenistan.
Supporting the proposal the Turkmen leader expressed belief that this partnership would play the positive role in enhancing the fruitful Turkmen-German dialogue. In this context the sides considered the opportunities of training and improving the professional skills of Turkmen specialists at the Commerzbank.
Upon concluding the meeting Mr. Martin Blessing expressed sincere gratitude to the Presdient for the opportunity to discuss the issues of co-operation in a personal meeting and assured the Turkmen leader that he would spare no effort to enhance and expand mutually advantageous partnership.
