Ceremony of opening the monumental fountain complex in Ashgabat

The ceremony of opening the monumental fountain complex commemorating the prominent historical figures of the Turkmen people – the forefather of the Turkmen national Oguz Khan and his devoted associates – six sons took place in Ashgabat. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the celebrations on the remarkable occasion. The Turkmen leader arrived at the venue upon returning from the Republic of Tatarstan.

The monumental architectural ensemble is built at the intersection of Bitarap Avenue and Hero of Turkmenistan Atamurat Niyazov Avenue in the very centre of the highway interchange at the entrance to the Ashgabat International Airport.

The high-ranking officials of the Mejlis, the cabinet ministers, the heads and officials of the diplomatic missions and international organisations accredited to Turkmenistan cordially greeted the President of Turkmenistan. They warmly congratulated the Turkmen leader on his birthday and the successful visit to the Republic of Tatarstan.

The girls dressed in the bright national costumes presented the bouquets of flowers leader, the elders offered bread and salt to the Turkmen leader. The clergymen offered up the inspired prayers. Greeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the native land on his birthday those present wished the Turkmen leader good health for many years ahead, happiness and new accomplishments in his noble work for the benefit of the people and Motherland.

Thanking for the heartfelt welcome and cordial wishes the Turkmen leader addresses the participants of the ceremony. The Turkmen leader emphasized that the present event – one brighter page in the chronicle of the new historical epoch. The President said that the monument fountain complex was to commemorate the forefather of the Turkmen nation Oguz Khan and his sons. Built at the intersection of two busy highways on the way to the International Airport – the heart of the Turkmen capital the splendid architectural ensemble was of symbolic significance as today, in the epoch of new Revival the number of guests arriving in the ancient and eternally young Oguz land increased with every passing year. Thus, the newly-built monumental complex would be the first landmark of Ashgabat as well as Turkmenistan. Taking an opportunity Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov thanked all those who had designed and constructed the grandiose architectural ensemble.

The Turkmen leader said that five thousand years ago the Turkmen Oguz founded their first state. Oguz Khan valued above all peace, unity and solidarity, without which the welfare and prosperity of any people were impossible. He brought up his six sons on these wise traditions – the fundamentals, the philosophy of the Turkmen people and taught his 24 grandsons and descendants to cherish these traditions. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that today the Turkmen people maintained Oguz Khan’s traditions that inspired them to labour for the happiness and wellbeing of the native land, the country’s rapid transformation. This idea underlay the project on construction of the fountain complex that would beautify Ashgabat’s architectural look.

Congratulating the participants of the ceremony, the people and guests of Ashgabat on the remarkable event the Turkmen leader wished them success. Then the Turkmen leader cut the green ribbon.

the group of the designers and architects led by People’s Artists of Turkmenistan Babasary Annamuradov had worked on the grandiose architectural composition. Great Oguz Khan with his extended in a welcoming gesture to the people and guests of the Turkmen capital – in the centre of the composition. According to the authrors, the monumental group embodying the images of Oguz Khan and his sons symbolized peaceableness, indissoluble unity and solidarity of the Turkmen people as well as the powerful creative spirit and strengthen of the modern Turkmen state.

The song Reviving Motherland performed by the choir of the Turkmen National Conservatoire attached solemnity to the ceremony. Hundreds of colourful balloons soared up in the sky. The artistic group performed the bright musical composition to the President and the participants of the ceremony.

The artists and cultural workers presented the theatrical performance. Legendary Oguz Khan and his six sons on horseback greeted the Turkmen leader and the participants of the ceremony. The Turkmen actors embodied the images of the glorious heroes.

The children came there to congratulate Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday. To the applause of those present the boy and girl presented the wonderful bouquets of flowers to the Turkmen leader.

A guest from France amazed the participants of the ceremony with a skydiving performance on the balloon.

The documentary film about the unprecedented reforms implemented in Turkmenistan nowadays, the policy of peace, good neighbourliness and wide international co-operation consistently realized by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was demonstrated on the special screens projects on the water surface.

The highlight of the festive programme was the laser light and musical show with ‘dancing’ fountains and spectacular fireworks that illuminated the night sky above the capital with the scattering of sparkling stars.

The President had a brief meeting with the cabinet ministers, who congratulated the Turkmen on his birthday at the building of the Ashgabat Textile Complex located nearby. Those present wished good health, vigour and energy, further accomplishments in his titanic activity for the benefit of Turkmenistan and thanked the Turkmen leader for the tireless concern for the welfare and glory of the great Motherland, the diligent and talented people.

The celebrations on occasion of opening the monumental fountain complex lasted till the night.
