President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic arrived in Ashgabat on the first official visit on July 21.

Vice Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov and other official persons greeted the honorary guest at the Ashgabat International Airport decorated with the national flags of the two friendly countries. The boys and girl dressed in the national costumes offered bread and salt and presented flowers to the honorary guest.

It is remarkable that Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Stjepan Mesic meets against the background of the noticeably intensified dialogue with the European countries and this fact testifies to the high reputation of Turkmenistan and the policy of its leader prioritizing enhancement of international co-operation.

The documents opening the new horizons for fruitful mutually advantageous co-operation are expected to be signed upon concluding the Turkmen-Croatian top level and intergovernmental talks in Ashgabat. The approaches to implementation of the top level agreements will be negotiated in detail at the Mejlis of Turkmenistan as well as during the Turkmen-Croatian business forum, which will involve the top managers of the Croatian large companies interested in establishing the close contacts with Turkmen partners.

A big cultural programme including the visits to the landmarks of the Turkmen capital and its suburbs was prepared for the honorary Croatian guest and government delegation.
