People & Health : The General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan met in Ashgabat
 
A meeting of the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee held in the conference hall of the State Committee for Tourism and Sport of Turkmenistan brought together the NOC members and the sports community of the country.

The agenda focused on the training and participation of the Olympic delegation of Turkmenistan in the XXIX Summer Olympic Games in Beijing and further development of Turkmen sport. The election of Vice Chairman of the NOC of Turkmenistan was put on the agenda.

The participants reported on the preparations for sending the Turkmen sportsmen off to Beijing. A big music and sports festivities timed to this event would be arranged at the Kopetdag Stadium in Ashgabat. Those speaking noted that the Turkmen sportsmen were determined to represent their country at this global sports event in a worthy manner.

Developing Turkmen sport and massive sports movement is a priority of the national policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that is vividly evidenced by stadiums and sports complexes constructed throughout the country and propagation of the healthy lifestyle among Turkmen youth, first of all. Those present assured that they would spare no effort to foster the development of national sport and enhance its prestige on the world arena.

Ashgabat Khykim D. Orazov was elected Vice Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan.
