Two Turkmen sportsmen Umurbek Bazarbaev and Tolkunbek Khudaybergenov are split to Group A of the Olympic tournament in Beijing including 11 weightlifters from all over the world. Group includes the sportsmen from China, North Korea, Cuba, Indonesia, Romania, Columbia (represented by two weightlifters). 17 weightlifters from 15 countries will compete for the medals in the under-62 kg weight category.

Umurbek Bazarbaev lifted 287,5 kg and ranked the 7th at the Athens Olympic Games four years ago. Last year he ranked the 5th at the Asia Championship in Thailand. At the 2007 Asia Championship in Japan U. Bazarbaev ranked the 3rd and T. Khudaybergenov – the 4th among 16 athletes.
