
The First International Exhibition and Scientific Conference Basic Trends in Development of Turkmenistan’s Power Industry are opened at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The representative forum is organized by the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
Thus, Ashgabat is again in the focus of attention of the world business community. Today it is represented in the Turkmen capital by the leading foreign companies that embraced an opportunity to come here to receive evidence of the profound energy and in whole economic potential of Turkmenistan that pursues the policy of friendliness and wide international co-operation.
Keen interest shown by the international business circles in the forum is proved by participation of 52 companies from 22 countries worldwide. Most of the companies, in particular Siemens (Germany), General Electric (United States), are Turkmenistan’s long-term and reliable partners that collaborated in the large-scale projects. The well-known brands viewing co-operation with Turkmen partners as very promising and relying on the highly dynamic development of national economy and especially energy sector participate in the Exhibition.
Heading for modernization Turkmenistan, first of all, laid the groundwork for a breakthrough of the strategic sectors including power industry. Today this sector demonstrates not only the high pace of development but also rapidly puts on ‘weight’ as an exporter of the product of enormous demand in the world market – electric power. The intensively developed sectoral infrastructure and the power plants built throughout the country in different years allows Turkmenistan to export electric power to a number of the countries in the region – Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan.
The opening ceremony brought together the cabinet ministers, the high-ranking officials of the Mejlis, representatives of the large public organisations, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan and international organisations, scientists and journalists.
The President’s welcoming statement was presented at the ceremony. Wishing the participants of the international forum successful and fruitful work the Turkmen leader expressed belief that the Exhibition and Conference would be an important step towards constructive collaboration in implementing Turkmenistan’s profound energy potential that the country placed at the service of its people as well as the whole mankind.
State-of-art equipment, technological innovations, reference books are presented on the vast expanses of the Exhibition Centre – the largest one in the region. The exhibits include compressors and transformers of various types, lighting equipment, distribution panels and protective systems. There are the sections dedicated to the projects on reconstruction of the power stations and all-inclusive service of energy facilities, the stands with metrological equipment in the pavilions. The stands with the miniature models of the units consuming the alternative sources of energy - solar, wind, etc. are of particular interest to the visitors.

The Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan and its subdivisions – Turkmenmasingurlushyk State Concern, Turkmenenergo State Corporation, Ashgabatenergo Production Association, Turkmenenergoremont Specialized Production Association, the Sun Research and Production Association, Turkmenkabel State Enterprise, Turkmennebitgazgurlushyk State Concern and Energoenjam present their potential at the Exhibition.
The Turkmen entrepreneurs producing street lighting devices and specialized in repairing and assembling electric motors and electrical works participate in the Exhibition.
The territory adjacent to the Exhibition Centre is turned into a window for the showpieces of up-to-date vehicles that have replenished the fleet of the Ministry of Energy and Industry of Turkmenistan in recent years.
In the afternoon, the scientific conference started the work in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre. The agenda included the important issues of the development of power industry and establishment of the fruitful dialogue with all partners concerned. The representatives of dozens of the world-renowned companies, the leading Turkmen and foreign scientists, power engineers exchanged views on the approaches to intensifying co-operation based on the opportunities provided nowadays in Turkmenistan pursuing the new energy policy. Those speaking noted that this policy had made the Turkmen market very attractive through creating the favourable investment climate, the Turkmen Government’s determination to apply advanced technologies and state-of-art equipment i.e. aiming to considerable return on co-operation. The reports presented at the Conference drew a clear and distinct picture of the most promising trends in partnership and revealed the partners’ intention to act in the mutual interests and on the basis of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s development.
