First international power industry forum continues its work in Ashgabat
The International Exhibition and Conference Basic Trends in Development of Turkmenistan’s Power Industry continue its work in the Turkmen capital. The forum brought together the leading specialists and heads of the Turkmen energy departments and the representatives of dozens of the business companies and industrial groups, who had arrived in Ashgabat to establish mutually advantageous co-operation with Turkmen partners.
The priority trends and opportunities of expanding effective collaboration in this strategic sphere were the focus of the professional exchange of views in the conference hall of the Exhibition Centre. The reports focused on Turkmenistan’s power industry and the prospects of its development were of particular interest to the participants. The foreign partners put forward a number of the proposals on co-operation, in particular modernization of the Mary power station, introduction of latest manufacturing technologies and scientific and technological advances. For example, steam-to-gas technology is applied at combined-cycle steam plants.
The participants noted that the measures Turkmenistan took to bring power industry up to a higher level and to receive short-range return on investments along with the large-scale reform programmes and projects created incentives to intensify mutually advantageous co-operation. Another considerable ‘plus’ was the conducive environment for doing business including the favourable investment climate. As a result of this policy the offices and presentations of the foreign companies in Ashgabat had increased in number and this tendency was positive.
The participants focused on environmental safety that was of priority importance in Turkmenistan. The technologies in alternative, so-called renewable energy sources were under active discussion. During the forum the specialists exchanged views on the conception of development of the power system in Ashgabat and power supply to the Avaza national tourism zone.
On the second day of the international conference the participants unanimously called for furthering the fruitful dialogue – the dialogue of interested partners.
The foreign guests made an excursion around the landmarks of the Turkmen capital, the National Museum of Turkmenistan, the Ice Palace and the Path of Health and made journey by ropeway.
The participants of the exhibition and conference visited the large-scale facility of the power infrastructure – Ashgabat State Power Station. |
