The bilateral Turkmen-Chinese consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The heads of the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the People’s Republic of China considered a broad range of the issues related to implementation of agreements achieved during the talks President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao. Particularly, the approaches to speedy activation of the new mechanism of intergovernmental co-operation – the committee for co-operation which would be established under the top level agreement were the focus of the consultations. The sides harmonized the specific steps to foster partnership in such strategic fields as energy sector, transport, communication, textile and chemical industries, science and education.

The sides focused on the necessity of making Turkmen-Chinese co-operation more systematic based on the broad range and significance attached by both partners to this collaboration. In this regard the Chinese foreign minister welcomed the Turkmen colleague’s proposal to elaborate the joint action programme. The schedule of the visits at the top and government levels and the interparliamentary contacts was negotiated.
