The month of Oraza has come to the ancient Turkmen land. Sacred for the whole Muslim world it is deeply worshipped by the Turkmen people embodying their steadfast adherence to the lofty values of the nation, the ideals of genuine humanism, mercy and kindness.
The night of the 26th-27th is the most significant – Night of Almightiness. In the epoch of independence it has gone down in the life of the people of Turkmenistan as the brightest symbol of repentance and mercy. An act of genuine humanism, mercy and fairness – an integral aspect of the policy of the Turkmen state is the annual amnesty granted in the country to commemorate Night of Almightiness. Thousands of our compatriots who made a mistake but repented sincerely will return home in accordance with the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan and receive a chance to start a new, honest life and recover their reputation.
The month of Oraza is healing for the spirit and useful for the healthy lifestyle. It helps to be in harmony with himself and the others, strengthens the willpower, gives up bad habits, teaches to be disciplined and presents the joy of spirit. What is more important is that Oraza contributes to the unity of people. Therefore our ancestors considered Oraza the month of mutual respect, friendship, fraternity and inspiration. The fast is concluded by the big festivities – Oraza bayram celebrated in Turkmenistan as a nationwide holiday.
After gaining independence the Turkmen people were allowed to freely practice the religion of their forefathers, follow the ancestors’ spiritual traditions and customs. In modern Turkmenistan that resolutely advances along the path of peace, progress and constructive endeavours the high humane principles and imperishable human values inherent in the mentality and character of the Turkmen people from ancient times are established in practice every day. |
