Sport & Tourism : To Beijing for medals
 
The Turkmen athletes will take part in the 2008 World Summer Paralympics in Beijing which will traditionally follow the main sports event of the planet.

The 2008 Summer Paralympic Games, the XIII Paralympics, will be held from September 6 to September 17, 2008. Over 4,000 athletes from 145 countries will compete for the gold medals in 20 kinds of sports.

Three sportsmen, Ovez Ojiev from Mary Disabled Sports Club, coached by Honoured Coach of Turkmenistan Oleg Korastylev and Gajimet Ramazanov Maygozel Pekieva and Valentina Simakova trained by Chief Coach of the National Paralympics Committee of Turkmenistan will represent Turkmenistan on the world sports arena.

The Turkmen athletes will compete in the weightlifting tournament. Ovez participated in the similar sports event in Athens last year and ranked among the best ten athletes. As for the girls it will be their first participation in the World Paralympics. Let’s wish good luck to our sportsmen!
