Computer equipment purchased by the Project HOPE TB Programme under financial support of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) was transferred to the Tuberculosis Centre of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Department of Tuberculosis of the Turkmen State Medical Institute and five hospitals in the regions.

The Turkmen specialists who attended the CDC trainings will apply in practice the knowledge acquired under the TB ESM special programme aimed at improving registration of patients, reporting and data processing.

This action exemplifies successful partnership with the foreign partners providing active assistance in developing the national healthcare system to Turkmenistan. In the framework of the WHO recommended strategy To Stop Tuberculosis the remarkable achievements have been gained, in particular the DOTS strategy providing the population with a free access to high-quality tuberculosis prevention and treatment is widely spread in the country.
