Sport & Tourism : Turkmen veteran athletes’ success in the Kyrgyz Republic

The sportsmen of the Ellada Amateur Athletics Club from Ashgabat won two diplomas and Cups in the international track and field event held in Bishkek to celebrate the 17th anniversary of independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Over 70 amateur runners run 15 kilometres and 20 kilometres. The representatives of our country were among the best sportsmen in both tournaments. 71-year-old Murad Karliev was the best in the 15-km race among the veterans not younger than 70 and his friend 69-year-old Grigory Zabuldaev was the second in the 20-km race among the runners not younger than 65. It is the third victory M. Karliev gained in the tournaments. The silver medal winner of the 2008 tournament G. Zabuldaev ranked the best three times.

Master of Sport weightlifter and athlete Grigory Zabuldaev, a founder of the Ellada Amateur Athletics Club, successfully participated in various international competitions in Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Uzbekistan and in the International Marathon of Peace in Moscow and ranked among best five sportsmen.

Murad Karliev was a participant of the International Marathon of Peace in Moscow, the athletic tournaments in Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates. For over 10 years he has been chairing the Ellada Amateur Athletic Club, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of establishment last year.
