
The ceremony of opening the 2nd international exhibition of telecommunication, telemetric and information technologies and television and radio equipment Turkmentel-2008 and the scientific conference was held at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The organizers of the forum are the Ministry of Communication and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
The manufacturers from 20 countries worldwide are presented at the large-scale exposition including Japan, Russia, Germany, the United States, China, Great Britain, Israel, Finland, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, Belgium, Turkey, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Ukraine.
The well-known companies including Siemens and Rohde & Schwarz FTK Gmbh (Germany), Huawei Technologies Co (China), Enex Process Engineering SA (Belgium), Sumitomo Corporation (Japan), Cisco Sistems (the United States), Liebherr (Switzerland), Eurasia Trans Limited (Great Britain), DAEWOO Internanional (Korea) will present their achievements in the sphere of communications, telecommunications, computer technologies and equipment within three days
The high-ranking officials of the Mejlis, cabinet ministers, the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan and international organizations and numerous guests including the specialists of the foreign companies successfully operating in Turkmenistan took part in the opening ceremony.
The welcoming statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to participants of the international telecommunications exhibition, in which the Turkmen leader focused on the role of telecommunication systems in the modern world. And the significance attached in Turkmenistan to development of the sector that accumulated the scientific and technological advances, was presented at the ceremony.
The exposition includes several theatrical sections presenting telecommunications, information technologies, telemetric and measuring equipment, wireless communication, audio and video equipment, television equipment, communication services, special technique and equipment, logistics.

The expositions of the satellite and cellular communication operators and the internet providers and distributors including Turkmenistan’s long-term partner MTS and Megafon, Beeline, Rostelekom were of particular interest. There are the expositions of Nokia Siemens Networks, DHL, ZTE Corporation nearby presenting advanced computer, network, optic, satellite equipment, household appliances and office equipment, information technologies, digital systems and achievements in programme designing and software.
In the afternoon the Conference Telecommunications, Telemetric and Information Technologies and Television and Radio Broadcasting in Turkmenistan started at the Exhibition Centre.
The agenda included the current aspects of developing the communication sector and establishing the constructive and fruitful dialogue with all partners concerned. The representatives’ of the world’s leading companies, Turkmen and foreign experts in communication technologies exchanged views on the ways of enhancing collaboration based on the vast opportunities provided in Turkmenistan nowadays.
Those speaking at the conference noted that wide appliance of the results of the scientific research and introduction of scientific advances and highly effective communication technologies in all spheres of the life that Turkmenistan relies on ensuring the high dynamics of economic growth.
The favourable investment climate and aims at the high return of co-operation to a larger extension make the Turkmen market attractive. In particular, the Law of Turkmenistan “On Communications” provides the legal guarantees of intensive development of the communication enterprises of various patterns of ownership and active involvement of private investors, foreign operators and equipment manufacturers in the sector.
The reports presented the clear and comprehensive of the most promising trends in partnership demonstrating the partners’ willingness to act in the mutual interests and on the basis of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s development.
