The 39th session of the Board of the Communications Administrations Heads of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications closed in the Turkmen capital.
Ashgabat became the venue of this international forum for the second time. The delegations of the countries – full members and observers of this largest regional organisation founded to foster communication and informatization in the CIS member states took part in the regular session. These included the heads and high-ranking officials of the communication administration from the Russian Federation, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Latvia and Ukraine, the representatives of Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communication, the International Union of Electronic Communication, the Universal Postal Union and others. The agenda of the 39th session included the current issues related to implementation of the profound potential of co-operation in developing the communication sector, enhancement of the Regional Commonwealth and its role in the international organisations.
Discussing the aspects of the short- and long-range regional co-operation strategy the participants reaffirmed the willingness to expand and enhanced the constructive dialogue fostering development of the communication systems in the Commonwealth member states and to intensify the integration processes in the region in whole.
In the afternoon the 13th session of the Coordination Council of the CIS member states for Informatization was held in the conference hall of the President Hotel in Ashgabat.
The participants considered the priority trends in collaboration to achieve the common goals and objectives of the CIS member states to form the common information space and to further develop the information and telecommunication infrastructure.
The heads of the delegations focused on the necessity of further development of information service market, international information exchange, design and implementation of the informatization co-operation programmes.
The agenda of the session included other items including the proposal to establish the intergovernmental information and marketing centre which would provide information support and facilitate trade and economic co-operation between the member states. The results of the work of the commission for information security aimed at applying the technical means to protect information and coordinating the joint research activities were presented at the session.
The 40th session of the Board of the Communications Administrations Heads of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of Communications and the 14th session of the Coordination Council of the CIS member states for Informatization will be held in Slovenia in the spring of 2009. |
