The large-scale programme on planting of greenery implemented in the cities and settlements of Turkmenistan is an effective step towards protecting the environment and guaranteeing ecological security. The programme involving all people of Turkmenistan is a key aspect of the country’s social development. With every passing year the results of the unprecedented large-scale action become obvious: the public gardens, parks and vast woodland parks have appeared around the Turkmen capital, the administrative centers of the velayats and etraps, in rural areas. For the past two years the specialists of the ministries and departments, institutions and organizations and citizens of Turkmenistan have planted over six million young plants all over the country.
Implementation of the programme is of particular concern to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. This the key item on the agenda of the sittings of the Cabinet of Ministers. Taken the national project under the personal control the Turkmen leader instructed the relevant specialists to put the ongoing activity on the scientific basis.
According to the Green Belt JSC, a new stage of the planting campaign is in active preparation. In accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan three million young trees will be planted during this year’s planting campaign. The green plantations will occupy 4,800 hectares, of them 2,563 hectares in the Ak Bugday Etrap and 1,392 – in the Gekdepe Etrap. This year 845 hectares more will be planted with greenery in Ashgabat.
The works include cleaning the areas for planting and tilling soil, drilling, irrigation wells, installing water tanks and digging the holes for young saplings. The plantations will be laid out in accordance with the laws of landscape design.
Nowadays, the effective technology of trickle irrigation is widely applied: limiting water consumption the technology allows supplying water to the root system and targeted application of fertilizers. Local specialists provide the services in installing the trickle irrigation systems.
