National Security Council meeting reviewed the outcomes of the work of law enforcement agencies in 2016
The results of activities of military and law enforcement agencies in 2016 have been summarized at the expanded meeting of the National Security Council chaired by the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, General of the Army Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The issues of ensuring safety and peaceful life of the country, strengthening of material-technical base of law enforcement agencies, improvement of conditions of service and living conditions of military personnel have been reviewed and basic objectives for 2017 have been identified during the meeting.
Situation on state border and frontier construction, measures to prevent crime and maintain public order have been reported at the meeting. A separate topic was on work to prevent the spread of narcotic and psychoactive substances. Particular attention is paid to improving the effectiveness of prosecutorial supervision and reform of the judicial system in accordance with international standards.
During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan has made new appointments in the judiciary.
A discussion was also held on matters of customs clearance of goods in connection with creation of new transit corridors, improving the registration of foreign guests and issuance of citizenship to apatrides (stateless persons).
Orienting the heads of military and law enforcement agencies to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and management work, the President stressed the importance of ensuring a high organizational level of activities in the days when Ashgabat will be hosting V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
The Head of state signed documents on awarding servicemen of the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan state awards and awarding them military ranks. Turkmen leader has also signed a decree on establishment of combat banners of military units of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan.
