President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov receives the UN Permanent Coordinator to Turkmenistan
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received recently appointed the UN Permanent Coordinator, the UNDP Permanent Representative and the UNFPA Representative to Turkmenistan, Mrs Elena Panova, who presented her credentials.
During exchange o the opinions, the sides expressed the interest in new joint projects, aimed at realization of the programmes of social and economic development of the country and achievements of the Goals of the Sustainable Development.
The UN recognizes that Turkmenistan became one of the first countries, which nationalized the GSD, having started joint work for introduction of these Goals into national plans, - Mrs Panova said. The UN Representative highly esteemed the input of Turkmenistan into sustainable development, consolidation of peace and security in the Central Asia, regional and global initiatives of the country, which was uttered from the high podium of the United Nations General Assembly.
Having expressed the gratitude for the support of the initiatives of Turkmen side in transport, global energy security, rational use of resources and environmental protection, the Head of the State declared that Turkmenistan would continue undertaking active participation in discussion of the global agenda cooperating with the UN agencies and structural departments.
Mrs Panova assured that she would take all efforts for Turkmenistan and the UN would continue successful work in such important spheres as education, children prosperity, public health and social protection.
It was mentioned that the UN welcomes the reforms aimed at social and economic development, consolidation of democratic and legal basis of Turkmenistan. There is the Headquarter of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for the Central Asia. Important international forums are held in the country. There are First Global Sustainable Transport Conference, which was held in November of the last year. New building of the UN Representative Office was opened during those days as well.
