President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov attended the ceremony of laying flowers to the Monument of Constitution and opening the Alem Cultural and Entertaining Center.
Early morning thousands citizens of Turkmenistan gathered together at the square near the Monument of Constitution erected on the south of the Turkmen capital to take part in the festivities on occasion of the remarkable date – the 20th anniversary of the Main Law and the Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Magtymguly Fragi.
Among the guests to the ceremony were the heads of the diplomatic representatives and missions accredited in Turkmenistan, foreign businessmen, as well as the representatives of parliaments, governmental structures and public organisations of more than 20 countries who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the festive celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of the Constitution of Turkmenistan.
The Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Vice Premiers, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies khyakims of velayats and Ashgabat greeted the President of Turkmenistan. Young soldiers with the national flags in their hands were standing guard in honour.
President of Turkmenistan headed to the special place on the square in front of the Monument of Constitution. The first chords of the National Anthem of Turkmenistan were performed.
The Turkmen leader laid a wonderful wreath of flowers to the Monument of Constitution symbolizing the inviolability of the state principles of sovereign Turkmenistan, its real democratic foundations and centuries-old traditions of democracy.
Following the national leader, the cabinet ministers, deputies of Mejlis and parliamentarians of other states, heads of ministries and departments, public organisations, labour groups and educational institutions of the Turkmen capital, foreign diplomats and all participants of the festivities laid flowers to the Monument.
Congratulating those present on the Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Magtymguly Fragi and the 20th anniversary of adoption of the Main Law of Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited them to take part in the ceremony of opening of the Alem Cultural and Entertainment Center erected near the Monument of Constitution.
The Turkmen leader headed to the main entrance to the Alem building. A bright musical and theatrical performance was arranged there. Young artists presented colourful show on ‘space’ motifs.
The new complex built and equipped by the Polimeks Company added the original features to the look of the Turkmen capital. The giant building 95-meter in height with a spire represents a stepwise pyramid with a Ferris wheel 57 meters in diameter. Today, this is the largest indoor Ferris wheel in the world. An official representative of the Guinness World Records arrived specially in the Turkmen capital to award a relevant international certificate to the Ashgabat Khyakim.

A Space Museum is located on the basement floor. There are two XD cinemas in the center. A children’s playing ground is located on the first floor. A giant Ferris wheel installed above the restaurant is designed for 24 six-seater cabins. There are observation areas in the terraces of the pyramid that, in its turn, stands on a granite platform of the whole structure. Thus, there are six levels in the building of the center seven meters in height each, including two underground levels. Escalators and lifts working in the central atrium of the building will lift visitors to upper floors.
There are grounds for playing bowling, and table games, small motodrome, swimming pool, cafes and many other entertaining facilities, stores, underground parking around the building of the Alem Center occupying the area of over 26,000 square meters. There are alleys, fountains and big area for arranging various events on the territory adjacent to the building.
After considering the Alem Cultural and Entertaining Center and expressing belief that the new complex would present many wonderful minutes and amazing impressions, the President of Turkmenistan bade farewell to those present. Then, the President of Turkmenistan held a number of meetings with the heads and representatives of the parliaments of foreign countries, prominent foreign political and public figures and left the venue.
The festive celebrations in honour of the 20th anniversary of adoption of the Constitution of Turkmenistan and the Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Magtymguly Fragi took place throughout the country. The traditional ceremonies of laying flowers to the monument to Magtymguly Fragi, festive events and concerts in honor of the national holiday were held in the administrative centers of all regions of the country.
The concerts entitled “This is the basis of the Turkmens!” were performed at the Watan and Turkmenistan Cinema and Concert Centers in Ashgabat. The patriotic performances were arranged at all theaters of the country.
A dinner was given at the Mizan Business Center in Ashgabat on occasion of the remarkable date.
The best musical groups, famous singers and dance groups presented a festive concert programme at the Alem new Cultural and Entertaining Center. The final chord of the holiday was the fireworks above the Ferris Wheel of the Alem Center.
The Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Magtymguly annually celebrated in Turkmenistan along with the Constitution Day drew a wide response abroad. The festive celebrations dedicated to Magtymguly Fragi took place in Ankara, Islamabad, Tashkent, and Almaty, in Ukraine, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other countries. A creative event dedicated to the life and creative activity of Magtymguly Fragi will be held in Herat, Afghanistan on May 20.
