Priority directions of Turkmen – German trade and economic cooperation are outlined
Ashgabat hosted the 7th session of Joint Turkmen – German Work Group, which agenda included further consolidation of constructive partnership in trade and economic sphere between two countries.
Representative delegation led by Deputy Minister, Head of Foreign Policy Department of the Federal Ministry of Economy of the Federal Republic of Germany Eckhard Franz arrived in Turkmen capital for participation in the meeting.
Opening the session, the heads of work group from both sides highlighted that trade and economic connections are the indexes of high level of bilateral relations where large role is given to the activity of Joint Turkmen – German Work Group. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted previously that Turkmenistan takes Germany as one of the leading business partners in long-term cooperation with the European Union. In its turn, FRG expresses keen interest in intensification of efficient cooperation with our country, what is visually indicated by established fruitful contacts with the largest German companies.
It is remarkable that German companies were among the first to come to Turkmen market and for many years already successfully works in different spheres. Large opportunities for consolidation of productive partnership in this direction are opened by large reform programmes and important infrastructural projects in Turkmenistan.
The fact that many famous German companies opened their branch or representative offices in our country is an evidence of the intent of German business circles to consolidate their positions in perspective Turkmen market with favourable investment climate.
During the meeting, the sides shared the visions on current situation and prospects of expansion of beneficial long-term cooperation as well as on realization of the previous agreements including those achieved during last session of Joint Turkmen – German Work Group in Berlin in last April.
Co-chairmen noted that fuel and energy complex, where Turkmenistan, possessing colossal resource potential, implements the strategy of fundamental modernization of equipment and facilities base of the branch initiated by Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, diversification of export routes of energy supplies including to European direction, are among key vectors of partnership. Implementing large infrastructural projects in this important sphere, our country stands for constructive cooperation in fuel and energy complex making concrete proposals, which had support and recognition of the world community, for reliable supply of energy carriers to international markets.
Cooperation in transport sphere, which development is an integral part of geopolitics and strong integration resources able to provide social and economic progress in global scale, is among broad circle of subjects of the current meeting. Creative initiatives of Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for formation of transit and transport corridors in North – South and East - West directions as well as large work undertaken in Turkmenistan for modernization of relative infrastructure and establishment of combined system of transport communications are aimed at optimization of beneficial partnership in this strategic sphere. All of these stipulate large opportunities for successful consolidation of efforts with German partners,
In this regard, the representatives of German side expressed the willingness of leading German companies to take an active part in large infrastructural projects, in particular in reconstruction of Turkmenbashy Sea Port, Avaza National tourist zone and other.
Agricultural complex and further development of cooperation in delivery of agricultural equipment to Turkmenistan is an important sphere of bilateral relations. In this context, the attention was paid to expansion of service base of German companies in our country as well as their active participation in training of engineering and technical personnel.
Intensification of the contacts in education, science and culture, public health and tourism were discussed during the meeting. Both sides have big experience of successful joint work in humanitarian and cultural field including the activity of Turkmen and German scientists in protection of manuscript heritage and archaeological researches. In this context, the opportunities of organization of artefacts exhibition, representing Margiana – the ancient kingdom of Bronze Age on the territory of Turkmenistan, in Germany in 2018 were discussed.
German companies, having big relative experience, are also able to assist in ecological sphere, planning of natural, archaeological and historical cultural facilities based on advanced technologies, in infrastructure of active recreation and organization of hotel management.
Stating the intent to consolidation of partnership in advanced technologies field, the guests noted that Germany, being one of the recognized world leaders in this sphere, is willing to suggest newest scientific and industrial developments.
At the end of the session, head of German delegation Eckhard Franz expressed the gratitude to Turkmen side for hospitality and high organizational level of the meeting as well as expressed the confidence that such business forums would serve to intensification of long successful Turkmen – German dialog.
