The Framework agreement on cooperation between the Turkmengaz State Concern and CNPC was signed

Vice Premier Ya. Kakaev and the members of the Turkmen delegation visited the central office of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Beijing, where they met with Chairman of the CNPC Board of Directors Mr. Jiang Jemin.

As is known, the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation is one of the first foreign companies started working at the promising dynamically developing Turkmen market. Since 2007, based on the production sharing agreement signed with the State Agency for Management and Use of Hydrocarbon Resources under the President of Turkmenistan, CNPC has prospected, explored, and developed the fields on the Bagtyyarlyk contractual area that is a raw materials base of the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China transnational gas pipeline.

During the meeting at the office of the CNPC Company in Beijing, the parties exchanged their views on the issues of further increasing the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries that has received high dynamics and qualitatively new content, strategic and long-term character within the last years demonstrating the bright example of mutual understanding in all key areas of cooperation.

Particular attention at the meeting held on instruction of the President of Turkmenistan was paid to the progress in implementing the existing intergovernmental agreements and large-scale joint projects in the fuel and energy sector, including increase of capacity of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline. The progress in implementing the projects on ‘blue fuel’ production in Turkmenistan and creation of the relevant industrial infrastructure at the gas-bearing territories on the right bank of the Amu Darya River was discussed during the meeting.

The ceremony of signing the Framework agreement on cooperation between the Turkmengaz State Concern and the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) on exporting extra volumes of Turkmen natural gas to China took place upon conclusion of the talks.
