President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Congratulates Officers, Sailors, Cadets on Day of Naval Forces

I congratulate you with the Day of the Naval Forces of Turkmenistan, the message by the head of state states. We highly appreciate the service by naval personnel who secure the inviolability of our maritime boundaries and work hard to turn the Caspian into the sea of friendship and accord.

Sailors serving at the maritime boundaries of our country are entrusted with an important duty. By fulfilling their charge, remaining loyal to the Motherland and true to the oath of enlistment, you must become worthy successors of your great ancestors. To develop successfully the naval art inherited from the predecessors is the duty of the officers and soldiers of the Naval Forces. I believe that you will meet this responsibility with honor, and will reliably protect our maritime boundaries, the message notes.

On 17-27 September we have successfully hosted in our country the major international sports event, the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. Among athletes, who championed the honor of our country and produced high results, were defenders of the Motherland. I express my heartiest gratitude for your high achievements at the Games.

Along with other military service branches of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, Naval Forces have their logistics and supply base enhanced steadily. New ships, most advanced equipment and machinery are purchased. Combat and humanitarian training of military sailors is enhanced. This is seen during military and tactical exercises. We will continue to place special emphasis on enhancing the logistics and supply base, increasing the capacities of the military personnel, securing the integrity and inviolability of maritime borders, the address stressed.

Under the Military Doctrine, ensuring Turkmenistan’s security is one of the priorities of the state policy. It is in this regard that for the first time in the history of our neutral Motherland the Command of the Naval Forces of Turkmenistan has been established. With the purpose of ensuring strong protection of maritime borders and training highly qualified professionals for the ships of the Ministry of Defense and the State Border Service of our country, the Naval Institute of the Ministry of Defense has been established and served as the basis for the founding of the Specialized Naval School. On 9 October 2015, on the occasion of the Day of the Naval Forces of Turkmenistan, the institute’s new complex of buildings of the highest international standard has been commissioned.

On 17 January 2017, during my meeting with the sailors of Gayratly missile cruiser that was on the alert mission at the border, I was reassured of their professional skills, saw the courage and fearlessness of the warriors, which made me happy and immensely proud that the Turkmenistan sector of the Caspian Sea was in good hands.

You must always perform your military service in accordance with the Military Doctrine of independent neutral Turkmenistan. You must consistently ensure the peace and security at the borders in the Caspian Sea and continue with dignity the glorious traditions of Turkmen sailors! I trust that you will meet this important and noble responsibility with honor, expressed his confidence the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in closing the address.
