Priorities of the Turkmen-Saudi trade and economic cooperation discussed in Riyadh

The delegation of Turkmenistan visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a working visit. Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers M.Babaev reported on the outcomes of the visit during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan.

According to the Vice Premier, the issues of the trade and economic and investment cooperation, including in the framework of the fuel and energy sector were discussed and the specified agreements were achieved in a number of areas during a regular session of the Turkmen-Saudi Intergovernmental Commission. The heads of the sphere of industry and power economy of Turkmenistan, as well as large companies in Saudi Arabia took part in the meeting.

The members of the Turkmen delegation held a number of meetings with Saudi colleagues to discuss the implementation of the bilateral agreements, achieved during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Saudi Arabia in May, 2016.

The talks opened up the opportunities to attract Saudi investments into the international and national projects in the oil and gas sphere, mineral production, developing lines, etc. The Saudi partners expressed the interest in the mutually beneficial cooperation on the implementation of the projects in the gas chemical and industrial spheres, transport and communications, ore mining and other areas.

In particular, it was expressed the willingness to support the project on the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India transnational pipeline, initiated by Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants discussed the opportunities for bringing Turkmen hand-made carpets and carpet articles to the Saudi market and then to the other Arabian countries. The Saudi partners suggested to organize the exhibition of Turkmen carpets in Riyadh and to create a working group on this issue.
