Briefing on the International Neutrality Day in Tashkent

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized the briefing on the International Neutrality Day. As is known, the UN General Assembly supported the initiative of Turkmenistan and on February 2, 2017 adopted the Resolution on the International Neutrality Day that will be annually celebrated on December 12, starting this year. It was noted that the adoption of the Resolution testifies to the high international authority of neutral Turkmenistan and the general recognition of its significant contribution to guaranteeing peace, security and sustainable development.

The briefing held in the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Tashkent brought together the representatives of the Uzbek media, public figures and Turkmen students getting education in the higher educational institutions in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The meeting participants focused on the role of the neutral status in the foreign-policy, socio-economic, public and political achievements of Turkmenistan as well as the key areas for enhancing the multi-aspect Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation.

Those attending the meeting were familiarized with the concept of the 2017-2023 foreign policy course of the country, the strategy of the socio-economic, social and political reforms as well as the tasks on establishing the innovative system of analyzing the historical heritage in the context of the motto of the year of 2018 “Turkmenistan is the Heart of the Great Silk Road”.

It was underlined the strategic character of the partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN as well as the work of the Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy as a unique peace-making structure.

The initiatives put forward by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov from the rostrum of the United Nations Organisation and in the framework of authoritative international forums, in particular on Afghanistan, on the secure and stable transit of energy resources, as well as logistics strategy and the investment and ecological policy of Turkmenistan were highlighted during the meeting.

A video film dedicated to the ambitious reforms launched in independent neutral Turkmenistan and its unique historical and cultural heritage was demonstrated during the event.
