This was the first visit of the President of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Moldova, and therefore it was given particular importance in the context of further development of Turkmen-Moldovan relations.
The President's plane landed at the International Airport of Chisinau decorated with the national flags of the two friendly countries. The official ceremony of greeting the President of Turkmenistan took place at the airport. The leaders of the two countries headed together from the airport to the Residence of the President of the Republic of Moldova.

Then the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Republic of Moldova headed to the VIP hall where they held one-on-one talks. The leaders of the two states discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and specified the priority areas for long-term collaboration.
After concluding the one-on-one talks, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Nicolae Timofti headed to the Residence of the Government of the Republic of Moldova where the Turkmen-Moldovan talks with the participation of the members of the government delegations of the two countries took place. The Turkmen leader invited the President of the Republic of Moldova to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. Dates of the visit will be adjusted through diplomatic channels. The ceremony of signing bilateral documents was held after finishing the intergovernmental talks.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Moldova, the Plan of Political Consultations for 2013-2014 between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Convention on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income and Capital Gains between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the Republic of Moldova were signed in the presence of the leaders of the two states.

After the wreath-laying ceremony the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left Stefan cel Mare Park.
