CNPC to complete three gas wells in Turkmenistan, unfinished by a company from the UAE

The Chinese company CNPC will complete the construction of three highly complex gas wells, which were not completed by a company from the United Arab Emirates, at the largest gas field in Turkmenistan, Galkynysh. The corresponding decree was signed by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting via video link.

The draft document “On the completion of the construction of gas wells at the Galkynysh gas field” was presented at the meeting by the Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Complex Shakhym Abdrakhmanov.

According to the document, as part of the ongoing work on the stage-by-stage development of this field, the State Concern Türkmengaz will sign a contract with CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited (PRC) to provide services for the completion of construction and commissioning of three particularly difficult wells. Settlements under the contract are planned to be carried out at the expense of natural gas supplies to China.

“Turkmenistan regards China as its strategic partner, including in the energy sector, where solid experience of joint work has been accumulated,” the head of state said after signing the decree.

The document allows the State Concern Türkmengaz to conclude a contract with CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited (PRC) to complete the construction and commissioning of 3 gas wells, the construction of which was started but not fully completed by Gulf Oil & Gas FZE »United Arab Emirates. The term of the contract is 30 months.
