Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has advanced carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technologies and will implement them during the construction of a new urea fertilizer production complex with a capacity of 1.155 million tons in Turkmenbashy etrap. This was announced by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries chief executive director Eisaku Ito at the international conference «Development of the construction, industrial, chemical, and energy industries of Turkmenistan» (CIET 2025).

A Japanese businessman visiting Turkmenistan for the first time first expressed gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the active development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation and the opportunity to contribute to the economic growth of the country.

«Through our experience on-site, we discovered many commonalities between Turkmenistan and Japan. We share values such as hard work, modesty, honesty, discipline, and trust. These values formed the foundation of rapid economic growth of Japan in the XX century», - director of the company said.

In this regard, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which has advanced carbon dioxide capture technologies, will implement them at the new production complex.

«The implementation of such technologies will make the new facility the first operational CO2 capture complex in Central Asia. We are confident that this will position Turkmenistan as a leader in decarbonisation in the region», - concluded Eisaku Ito.
