At a recent extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, attended by the heads of diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad of Turkmenistan, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined the foreign policy priorities of the country, aimed at further promoting the doctrine of peace.
A clear demonstration of respect of the world community for the Turkmen people
The head of state emphasised that the upcoming representative Forum of the International year of peace and trust in Ashgabat will play a significant role in strengthening international standing of Turkmenistan. This Forum is expected not only to demonstrate status of Turkmenistan as a peace-loving state but also to serve as a clear demonstration of respect of the world community for the Turkmen people and its policy of positive neutrality.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that all these events clearly reflect foreign policy of the country and highlight the importance of efforts aimed at maintaining global peace, sustainable development, and strengthening dialogue based on trust. In this regard, the importance of further effectively expanding cooperation with international organizations was emphasised.
Foreign policy priorities for the coming year
Foreign policy of Neutral Turkmenistan remains broad and multifaceted. Next year, the country intends to significantly expand cooperation in both bilateral and multilateral formats. Key areas include:
Dialogue with neighbours
The President emphasised the importance of dialogue with neighbouring states. Turkmenistan will continue to strengthen relations based on friendship, good-neighbourliness, and mutual respect with the countries of Central Asia and the Caspian region.
Economic cooperation
Close partnership with the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) will be continued, focusing on economic, energy, transport, and communications sectors.
Expansion of the geography of partnership
Turkmenistan plans to significantly expand its cooperation with countries in South Asia, the Middle East, and the Asia-Pacific region. The head of state noted that these regions are demonstrating significant economic and technological progress and are seeing great interest in cooperation with Ashgabat.
In this way, Turkmenistan is confidently entering a new era, guided by the principles of positive neutrality and actively contributing to strengthening international dialogue and global security.
