International Physics Olympiad held in Turkmenistan

The 5th International Physics Olympiad, organized in a digital format, took place at the Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute.

This high-level international event brought together about 380 students from higher educational institutions not only of Turkmenistan, but also from 14 countries around the world, including the Russian Federation, the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, Italy, Romania, Belarus, the Republic of Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan. It should be noted that the organization of such competitions has become a good tradition on the eve of the celebration of the International Day of Neutrality, and this year's Olympiad is dedicated to a significant occasion — the 30th anniversary of the recognition by the United Nations General Assembly of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality.

The fact that in the year of the wide celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Motherland’s neutrality the number of participating countries increased to 14 (previously the competition involved representatives from 8 countries) testifies to the steady growth in the popularity of this international Olympiad. The increase in the number of participants is also due to the preparation of tasks in three languages — Turkmen, English, and Russian.

The scientific competition demonstrated the high level of preparation of all its participants. A clear confirmation of this is that 19 students achieved the highest results. High scores were awarded to students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Seyitnazar Seydi Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, Nizami Tashkent State Pedagogical University, Xinjiang University (PRC), Tajik National University, Belarusian State University, Aba Annayev International Horse Breeding Academy (Turkmenistan), the University of Memphis (USA), Azerbaijan Technical University, and L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University.

Held in the International Year of Peace and Trust, the Olympiad is significant not only for strengthening cooperation between higher educational institutions, but also for allowing young people from different parts of the world to become acquainted with our country, engage in friendly communication, and exchange ideas.

The organization of an international Olympiad in the center of the eastern region of our country, at one of its oldest universities, reflects the triumph of the state policy pursued by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov aimed at developing the education system, bringing it in line with global standards, and consistently implementing the Concept for the Development of the Digital Education System in Turkmenistan.
