Turkmenistan has put forward an important international initiative, proposing the creation of a University of Peace and Neutrality in cooperation with the United Nations. The initiative was announced by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Peace and Trust Forum held in Ashgabat.

The head of state emphasized that due to its policy of neutrality, Turkmenistan is developing constructive, mutually beneficial, and friendly international relations. This testifies to the great prospects of neutrality and its application in various parts of the globe.

“In this context, based on the rich experience of the Community of Nations in the field of peacekeeping — which employs a wide range of political and diplomatic tools and methods of preventive diplomacy — and with the aim of advancing the practical dimension of neutrality and carrying out related research and educational activities, Turkmenistan proposes the establishment of a University of Peace and Neutrality in cooperation with the UN,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The head of Turkmenistan expressed hope for the support of this initiative from the international community and confirmed the country’s readiness for substantive discussions on it with friendly states and partners.
