On 5 September 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Korea held a meeting with Turkmen students studying at higher education institutions in the Republic of Korea. The meeting focused on the political significance of the forthcoming session of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, scheduled to take place on 23 September 2026.

During the meeting, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Korea Begenc Durdyyew briefed the students on major socio-political developments in the country, as well as on the foreign policy initiatives put forward by the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan.

It was noted that the forthcoming session of the Halk Maslahaty will serve as an important political platform for summing up the results of the work carried out, assessing the achievements made, and identifying priority areas for the further socio-economic development of Turkmenistan.

Particular attention was paid to the international significance of the United Nations General Assembly resolution entitled “Year of International Law, 2028”, adopted on 24 July 2026 at the initiative of Turkmenistan. It was emphasized that the adoption of the resolution reflects the importance of Turkmenistan’s consistent efforts to strengthen international law, promote multilateral cooperation, and advance the principles of peace, trust and mutual understanding.

At the conclusion of the meeting, an exchange of views took place on issues of interest to Turkmen students studying in the Republic of Korea.
