The EU delegation led by Acting Director for the Internal Energy Markets Mr. Jean-Arnold Vinois was received at the Government of Turkmenistan. The meeting agenda focused on the existing situation and prospects for cooperation, in particular in the fuel and energy sector.
The mutual interest for widening cooperation in this important sphere is stipulated by the constantly increasing needs of the EU member-states in energy resources as well as the strategy for diversification of routes for exporting energy resources to the world markets.
Mr. Jean-Arnold Vinois noted that Europe had supported this farseeing strategy as well as the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to establish a new global system of energy safety that would meet modern requirements.
Particular attention during the meeting was paid to the joint work on creating solid legal principles of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union at the international energy space.
Within the framework of the visit to Turkmenistan the EU delegation was also received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
