Enhancing the system of civil service in Turkmenistan is the project jointly implemented by the UNDP and the Civil Service Academy under the President of Turkmenistan
A three-day seminar was held in the Turkmen capital under this project. A UNDP international expert Ye. Danilova-Cross presented the overviews on major aspects of international practice in the sphere of professional development of managerial personnel.
This seminar is of particular significance for the Civil Service Academy of Turkmenistan has updated the curricula and incorporated the new subjects in economic, legal and humanitarian disciplines in compliance with international standards this academic year in order to modernize further the training process and teaching methods.
The key vectors of the activities carried out by the academic institution as a training, research and methodological centre to establish the national system of training managers and government officials are the study and adoption of best international teaching practices and promotion and enhancement cooperation with the international organisations, particularly the UN and its structures.
In this regard emphasis should be placed on close cooperation with the UNDP that implements the programmes and projects to facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge. A vivid illustration of this is the “Enhancing the system of civil service in Turkmenistan” joint project. The preliminary work on incorporation of the new disciplines such as E-government and Human development into the curriculum and improvement of the training process through applying best international practices and in compliance with national priorities is carried out under this project.
The roundtable and working meetings were conducted for the teaching staff of the Civil Service Academy in the framework of the seminar entitled “Human Development: Major Trends, Priorities and International Practices” to develop the training course and methodological materials to be incorporated in the curriculum.
