The briefing to mark the 19th anniversary of the Constitution of Uzbekistan took place in Ashgabat. The representatives of governmental institutions of Turkmenistan, foreign diplomatic missions and embassies accredited to our country and public organisations of the Galkynys National Movement and journalists were invited to attend the meeting.

Meeting participants were briefed on major social and economic achievements Uzbekistan had gained during the years of independence and the prospects of development of the neighbouring country.

Particular attention was paid to the significance of Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation which had been brought to the qualitatively new level though joint efforts of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkmenistan Islam Karimov. It was noted that top level regular meetings and talks filled the ties of friendship and good neighbourly relations between the two states and nations with a new content. The friendly states that are strategic partners in the trade and economic, energy, transport and other spheres maintain close cultural and humanitarian relations based on the age-old historical and spiritual affinities of the Turkmen and Uzbek peoples.

Broad prospects and opportunities to build up Turkmen-Uzbek partnership are opened up in the tourism sector. A photo and art exposition reflecting the richness of the historical, spiritual and cultural heritage of the Uzbek people was arranged in the foyer of the Embassy building.
