President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the progress of construction of the Olympic Village in Ashgabat and the projects of a number of other large facilities drafted by the Polimeks Turkish company, an old partner of Turkmenistan in the urban development sphere.
In the morning, the Turkmen leader headed to the Olympic Village, a large sports complex under construction in the southern part of the Turkmen capital. Vice Premiers, the heads of ministries and departments, Ashgabat Khyakim and the head of the Polimeks Company cordially greeted the President of Turkmenistan in the building of the complex.
A special video clip about the Olympic Village was demonstrated to the Turkmen leader.
The stands with draft designs of facilities to be built on the territory of the grandiose sports complex were exhibited in the foyer of the complex. In the beginning of the presentation, the project on modernization of the Olympic Stadium n Ashgabat was presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
During the presentation, the President of Turkmenistan considered the draft designs of the Centre for Doping Control, big and small indoor arenas with seats designed for 15,000 and 5,000 spectators respectively, indoor cycle track designed for 6,000 seats, indoor athletic arena with seats for 5,000 spectators and indoor tennis court with the seats designed for 4,000 sports fans. The draft designs of two hotels designed for 1,200 and 450 visitors were presented to the Turkmen leader for consideration.
During the presentation, the President of Turkmenistan paid particular attention to the draft designs of the symbol of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
Within the framework of the presentation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also considered a number of projects of other important facilities, including the draft design of the large Memorial Complex with the monuments to the heroes of the Geoktepe battle, brave Turkmen sons, who fell on the field of battle fighting against fascism, and the victims of the severe earthquake in Ashgabat in 1948. The project envisages creation of the Memorial museum and park with fountains and small architectural forms.
Then President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov considered the draft design of the Technopark under construction in Ashgabat. At present, construction of this large six-storey complex, which includes a number of scientific and research institutions, scientific library, laboratories, printing and publishing centres, museum, sports area and other facilities is under completion.
The President of Turkmenistan also considered the draft designs of a number of buildings and park to be built in the Turkmen capital.
Considering the projects drafted by the specialists of the Polimeks Company, the President of Turkmenistan made a number of comments and recommendations.
Summing up the presentation, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov specified a number of priority tasks regarding the preparations for the 2017 Asian Games and gave specific instructions to the relevant officials.
In particular, the President of Turkmenistan demanded the officials in charge to draft the programme of the ceremonies of opening and closing of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games and submit it for consideration. Moreover, the President of Turkmenistan underlined the necessity to design the symbol and motto of the 2017 Asian Games and announce a contest for the best symbol and design to be summed up by an authoritative jury. The Turkmen leader suggested to create the 2017 Asian Games Countdown 100 days before the games start that will contribute to creating a festive atmosphere on the eve of this important sports event.
The President of Turkmenistan also instructed the relevant officials to prepare the required number of the sets of medals for the 2017 Asian Games, which will reflect the national symbols, as well as prizes, gifts, souvenirs, booklets, etc.
At the request of the head of the Polimeks Company, the Turkmen leader visited the newly constructed objects, where the sports equipment is intstalled.
Considering the newly built facilities, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov bade farewell to those present wishing them great success in their work and left the Olympic Village.
