Public organisations of the country nominated the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as a candidate for the 2012 presidential election.
A meeting of the VII Congress of the Galkynys National Movement under the chairmanship of President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan took place in the Turkmen capital on December 15. Delegates summed up the work done in the period and identified the strategy, major objectives and guidelines for further activities of public organisations. The issues put on the meeting agenda included the nomination of candidates for the presidential election to be called in Turkmenistan on February 12, 2012.
It is symbolic that the VII Congress of the Galkynys National Movement aimed at adopting critical and historic decisions convened at the end of the year of the anniversary of independence of the Turkmen state which had become a milestone on the path of the country towards the heights of peace, progress and prosperity. It also should be noted that the nationwide forum took place a day before the leader of the movement of national revival – the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The agenda of the VII Congress of the Galkynys National Movement focused on identifying the further activities of public organisation given the tasks set in the new period of development of the country in the epoch of new Revival. The forum brought together 659 participants, of them 532 delegates from public organisations from all over the country and the cabinet ministers, the heads and representatives of the Mejlis, military and law enforcement agencies, Turkmen ambassadors to foreign countries, khyakims of Ashgabat and all regions of the country, representatives of major public organisations and unions, ministries and departments, the Academy of Sciences and institutions of high education, mullahs and journalists in the conference hall of the Galkynys National Movement.
Those present rose to their feet to greet President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Turkmen leader greeted delegates to the Congress and declared the meeting open.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presiding at the meeting placed the agenda for consideration to delegates to the Congress. The agenda issues included the report of President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the work carried out in the country in the epoch of new Revival and great reforms and the cessation of activity of the Galkynys National Movement. The Congress adopted the agenda unanimously.
First Vice Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement, First Secretary of the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan K. Babaev gave the floor to President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who reported on the first and second agenda items.
Addressing delegates to the Congress, citizens of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen leader noted that the people gave great credence to him five years ago having elected him the leader of the Turkmen state. “All these years,” said the Turkmen leader, “abiding by the Constitution of Turkmenistan and staying true to the Oath of Office, I have been holding the office of the Head of State in good faith to justify the trust given to me and doing it with immense love for my Motherland, my Turkmen land, my inspired and industrious people and being a true son of my people serving them faithfully. I always feel a strong support from my people in my work at the high post.”
Focusing on specific results of the significant work done for the past five years to transform all spheres of life of the state and society, the Turkmen leader said its ultimate goal was to uphold the interests of the country and people, every citizen.
“Guided by these goals we are confidently moving forward along the path of great reforms, along the path of unity and solidarity in the state and society, friendship and cohesion. We pursue the policy in our great national interests because we want Turkmenistan to be strong and flourishing, we do everything we can to guarantee a happy and prosperous life to our people,” said the President.
The Turkmen leader said overcoming difficulties and taking consistent steps to promote the policy of great reforms, apply advanced technologies and guarantee innovative development and high social and living standards in the 21st century, Turkmenistan was confidently advancing towards new heights of progress and gradually turning into a strong, prosperous, stable, well-known state in the world.
Noting that recently the country widely and solemnly had celebrated the anniversary of its independence, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the reflection on the ways made by the sovereign Turkmen state within a short historical period of history showed the correctness of the course chosen by the Turkmen people and the success of the policy of the epoch of new Revival and great reforms embodied in the principle “a state for the people” to the world.
Focusing on the achievements the Turkmen state had gained on the path of independent development, including the building of the firm foundation for a democratic, jural, secular state, gradual transition to a market economy, adoption of world scientific advances in the national economy, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said public organisations played a significant role in promoting the progressive reforms in the state and society.
The Turkmen leader paid particular attention to the legal reform which had enabled to fulfil the tasks of strengthening the rule of law and legal norms, maintaining civil and interethnic accord, enhancing and enriching the democratic principles of the state and society with a specific content and promoting the fundamental rights and freedoms of an individual and citizen.
Touching upon the foreign policy strategy issues, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the positivity and significance of Turkmen neutrality which had been facilitating the fulfilment of its historic mission of a state-peacemaker by Turkmenistan over 16 years. Talking about international initiatives and proposals put forward by the Turkmen state at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly and global challenges of modern times, the Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan pursued the foreign policy based on openness, respect and friendliness towards all nations of the world.
“We believe that any emerging situations in the world must be settled only by political and diplomatic means. Committed to the priority of national interests and for the purpose of full-scale and active involvement in tackling global political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific, technological, informational issues we have chosen a strategic lane and view it as an integral internal development factors,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Noting that it was impossible to spotlight everything done for the past five years in a short speech, the President said everyone present in the conference hall had the bulletin with the pledges he had given during the meeting with voters in 2007 and the results obtained. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said after reading it everyone could make sure of the work done and adequately evaluate it.
At the conclusion President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined once again the social orientation of the current political policy based on the main and immutable principle “a state for the people”.
“The remarkable achievements we have gained are certainly very important,” said the Turkmen leader, “however, they are only a step on the way of our independent neutral Motherland to lofty aims. Wonderful discoveries, outstanding accomplishments and great success are ahead of us! We believe in ourselves and our capabilities! I believe in my people, in their high and indomitable spirit, I believe that uniting further we will beautify our Turkmenistan even more and build our bright and happy future!”

The Galkynys National Movement uniting the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and large public organisations in the country, abiding by the national cultural values, promoting the unity and solidarity of the people, strengthening the social foundations, bringing up youth in the spirit of patriotism, reviving the rich cultural heritage of the nation, had fulfilled the tasks assigned to it,” said the Turkmen leader.
Expressing belief that public organisation would carry out further the independent work, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mapped out the concrete plan of actions. The Turkmen leader said the new historic epoch required a new approach to creating civil society and developing modern government institutions from us.
Identifying the tasks of Magtymguly Youth Organisation, the President focused on the need to intensify its work towards bringing up young citizens who are true patriots, politically literate and able to think in a new way, have an active civil position and feel their responsibility, who have neither have bad habits nor pursue their own ends, who work hard and look at the future with confidence.
“Important tasks,” said the Turkmen leader, “are assigned to trade unions that have to stand guard over the right of their members to work, protect the working and living conditions of citizens, uphold the interests of workers of state-run and private structures, train highly qualified specialists and raise the level of their skills on a regular basis, encourage business initiatives of citizens and inspire them to work hard, bring up the generation who will maintain labour traditions, promote a just appreciation of front-rank workers, create incentives for their effective work and ensure the favourable recreation conditions for citizens.”
Touching upon the objectives and responsibilities of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, the President focused on the active involvement of women in the political, social and business life of the country, protection of maternity and childhood, support and benefits for mothers of many children. “Women are a pride of our Motherland!” said the Turkmen leader.
Identifying the objectives within the War Veterans’ Organisation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that it must take care of war and labour veterans, honour them and provide assistance and support to senior citizens. “The major responsibilities of this organisation include guaranteeing the favourable conditions of life, recreation and medical to war and labour veterans. Senior citizens should be more actively involved in the work on patriotic education of youth for the elder people have the profound experience of selfless labour and courageous defence of the Motherland,” said the Turkmen leader.
Focusing on the role of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan at the new stage of development of the Turkmen state and society, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that a major portion of this work, as always, involved the ideological work among different groups of population. In this work the main role was assigned to primary party organisations of labour collectives, towns and villages throughout the country.
“The Democratic Party that is going to celebrate its 20th anniversary on December 16 has become stronger during the years of independence, and its credibility has significantly grown over the years. Today this party has turned into an active social force able to address critical political and social issues. Therefore, a crucial role in promoting and elucidating the state policy is assigned to the Democratic Party,” said the Turkmen leader.
“A new stage of development of our state,” continued President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, “requires every public organisation to respond to complex challenges that life sends today. To find most optimal approaches to addressing these challenges it is necessary to carry out the well thought-out day-to-day work and act to meet modern requirements and cope with the tasks assigned.”
Underlining the need to optimize the activity of public organisations of the country given the modern realities, the Turkmen leader said they would work independently so that they would feel a responsibility to the state and society. “For 20 years all public associations have gained enough experience of political and public activities to become truly pubic organisations,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizing that they enjoyed the support of millions of citizens who are members of these organisations and support their work.
Noting that the Galkynys National Movement has fulfilled the tasks assigned to it at the present stage of political and social development of the country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward the proposal to adopt the decision to suspend the activity of the Galkynys National Movement in accordance with Paragraph 4, Chapter 5 of the Charter of the Galkynys National Movement.
Delegates and guests to the Congress greeted the speech of President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with stormy applause.
Activists of public organisations and people of different professions and occupations participated in the debates. Among them were Head of the Department of the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute, a member of the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Nuryagdy Suvhanov, deputy director of school 25 from Dashoguz Oguldursun Taganova, head of the sector of Turkmenabat town committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Bagtyyar Derkarov, department head of the National Institute of Manuscripts of head of the department of the National Institute of Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences Rahimmammet Smoking, a foruth-year student of the Faculty of Philology of Magtymguly State University Resul Gayypsahedov, a carpet maker of the carpet factory from Serdar town of Balkan Velayat Gulyalek Ovezova.
In their speeches they expressed support for the Turkmen leader’s national and foreign policies aimed at the wellbeing of the Turkmen people and the prosperity of the beloved Motherland. Emphasis was put on the achievements gained in various areas of development of the modern Turkmen state and society. Representatives of the younger generation of the Turkmen people enthusiastically expressed gratitude to the Turkmen leader for providing the opportunities to actively participate in the affairs of the state and society, receiving education inside the country and at leading higher educational institutions abroad and realizing their talents.
Meeting participants underlined the significance of the ambitious reforms implemented on the initiatives and under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in promoting the scientific sphere, strengthening the material and technical basis of the Academy of Sciences and institutions of higher education of the country and creating the vast opportunities for professional development of Turkmen scientists. Also emphasis was placed on the Turkmen leader’s contribution to preserving, studying, publishing and promoting the spiritual heritage of the Turkmen nation all over the world and enriching the unique traditions of the Turkmen people.
Expressing deep gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the high evaluation of the activity of Galkynys National Movement and public organisations, members of the Movement, delegates to the Congress supported this proposal and called for optimizing further the activities of public organisations and intensifying and updating forms and methods of the modern realities and intensification and renovation social organizations of civil society with the realities of modern times, enhance and update the forms and methods of propaganda work.
Speaking about the plans to be implemented, meeting participants paid special attention to the issues related to patriotic and moral youth education and wide involvement of the younger generation of Turkmen citizens in the ongoing processes of reforms in the country. The major tasks assigned to public organisations included promoting, elucidating and implementing the Turkmen leader’s national programmes aimed at the wellbeing and prosperity of the Motherland, every citizen, encouraging people to reach the heights of patriotism, civic and moral duty to the beloved Motherland, inspiring compatriots to gain new accomplishments for the benefit of the country, emphasized members of the public organisations.
After the debates were concluded, the draft Resolution of the Congress of the Galkynys National Movement was put to the vote. Delegates to the Congress adopted it unanimously. The Resolution on the cessation of activity of the Galkynys National Movement was signed.

It was unanimously stated that the progressive reforms successfully implemented on the initiative of the Turkmen leader in the education, science, social, agricultural and cultural sectors aroused great enthusiasm among and ardently supported by all citizens of Turkmenistan.

Our towns and villages have changed beyond recognition; large-scale industrial complexes and various social and cultural facilities have been built and operate in the regions throughout the country; ambitious international projects have been launched. Through the Turkmen leader’s concern the national art has flowered with new colours and facets, centuries-old traditions and ancestors’ customs have gained a second wind.
Those speaking at the meeting noted that it was gratifying to know that the grandiose reforms and accomplishments were taking place in not only our wonderful capital but also most remote regions of the country where construction work had been launched; an enthusiastic and creative atmosphere reigned everywhere.

Particular attention was paid to the Turkmen leader’s foreign policy activity. It was emphasized that the opportunities to implement the economic potential had been greatly expanded through the tireless efforts of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmenistan’s prestige in the world arena. Those speaking noted that numerous foreign awards and titles presented to the leader of Turkmenistan evidenced the high evaluation of the Turkmen leader’s activities.
Activists of the public organisations emphasized that during their visits to regions and meetings with local citizens they felt support of the people for the activities of the Turkmen leader whom they called Arkadag and expressed the opinion of millions of their compatriots by proposing the Turkmen leader as a candidate for the presidential election.
Summing up the delegates’ speeches, the Chairman said numerous proposals to nominate the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the presidential election had come from members of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan from all regions of the country and citizens who backed the incumbent President for the Presidency.
Taking account of these proposals President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was unanimously nominated as a candidate for the presidential election to be called on February 12 during the joint meeting of the Democratic Party, trade unions, Magtymguly Youth Organisation, the Veterans’ Organisation and the Women’s Union.
Then the Draft Resolution on the nomination of incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as a candidate for the presidential election to be called on February 12, 2012 was read out. Participants of the joint meeting unanimously adopted this Resolution.

“At the present stage, when political and economic foundations of state independence have been laid,” -continued the Turkmen leader, “the time sends us new challenges which require modernisation of all spheres of life of the Turkmen state and society given the ongoing global political and economic changes.
“The social vector has been and remains a major component of the unique model of economic development of Turkmenistan in the new historical epoch,” said the President. “The meaningful principle “a state for the people” reflects the essence and content of all the large-scale reforms we are implementing,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressing firm belief that the tremendous resource potential of the natural wealth of Turkmenistan, the opportunities it opens up will be used further to ensure close interrelations between the economic and social development factors.

Touching upon the foreign policy strategy issues, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the positivity and significance of Turkmen neutrality which had been facilitating the fulfilment of its historic mission of a state-peacemaker by Turkmenistan over 16 years. Talking about international initiatives and proposals put forward by the Turkmen state at the 66th session of the UN General Assembly and global challenges of modern times, the Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan pursued the foreign policy based on openness, respect and friendliness towards all nations of the world.
“We believe that any emerging situations in the world must be settled only by political and diplomatic means. Committed to the priority of national interests and for the purpose of full-scale and active involvement in tackling global political, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific, technological, informational issues we have chosen a strategic lane and view it as an integral internal development factors,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
Noting that it was impossible to spotlight everything done for the past five years in a short speech, the President said everyone present in the conference hall had the bulletin with the pledges he had given during the meeting with voters in 2007 and the results obtained. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said after reading it everyone could make sure of the work done and adequately evaluate it.
At the conclusion President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined once again the social orientation of the current political policy based on the main and immutable principle “a state for the people”.
“The remarkable achievements we have gained are certainly very important,” said the Turkmen leader, “however, they are only a step on the way of our independent neutral Motherland to lofty aims. Wonderful discoveries, outstanding accomplishments and great success are ahead of us! We believe in ourselves and our capabilities! I believe in my people, in their high and indomitable spirit, I believe that uniting further we will beautify our Turkmenistan even more and build our bright and happy future!”
These words of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were greeted with the storm of applause.
The Turkmen leader underlined the historic significance of the Galkynys National Movement that had significantly contributed to strengthening the unshakable foundations of independence and permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan and highly evaluated the activities of its members.
The Galkynys National Movement uniting the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan and large public organisations in the country, abiding by the national cultural values, promoting the unity and solidarity of the people, strengthening the social foundations, bringing up youth in the spirit of patriotism, reviving the rich cultural heritage of the nation, had fulfilled the tasks assigned to it,” said the Turkmen leader.
Expressing belief that public organisation would carry out further the independent work, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mapped out the concrete plan of actions. The Turkmen leader said the new historic epoch required a new approach to creating civil society and developing modern government institutions from us.
Identifying the tasks of Magtymguly Youth Organisation, the President focused on the need to intensify its work towards bringing up young citizens who are true patriots, politically literate and able to think in a new way, have an active civil position and feel their responsibility, who have neither have bad habits nor pursue their own ends, who work hard and look at the future with confidence.
“Important tasks,” said the Turkmen leader, “are assigned to trade unions that have to stand guard over the right of their members to work, protect the working and living conditions of citizens, uphold the interests of workers of state-run and private structures, train highly qualified specialists and raise the level of their skills on a regular basis, encourage business initiatives of citizens and inspire them to work hard, bring up the generation who will maintain labour traditions, promote a just appreciation of front-rank workers, create incentives for their effective work and ensure the favourable recreation conditions for citizens.”
Touching upon the objectives and responsibilities of the Women’s Union of Turkmenistan, the President focused on the active involvement of women in the political, social and business life of the country, protection of maternity and childhood, support and benefits for mothers of many children. “Women are a pride of our Motherland!” said the Turkmen leader.
Identifying the objectives within the War Veterans’ Organisation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that it must take care of war and labour veterans, honour them and provide assistance and support to senior citizens. “The major responsibilities of this organisation include guaranteeing the favourable conditions of life, recreation and medical to war and labour veterans. Senior citizens should be more actively involved in the work on patriotic education of youth for the elder people have the profound experience of selfless labour and courageous defence of the Motherland,” said the Turkmen leader.
Focusing on the role of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan at the new stage of development of the Turkmen state and society, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that a major portion of this work, as always, involved the ideological work among different groups of population. In this work the main role was assigned to primary party organisations of labour collectives, towns and villages throughout the country.
“The Democratic Party that is going to celebrate its 20th anniversary on December 16 has become stronger during the years of independence, and its credibility has significantly grown over the years. Today this party has turned into an active social force able to address critical political and social issues. Therefore, a crucial role in promoting and elucidating the state policy is assigned to the Democratic Party,” said the Turkmen leader.
“A new stage of development of our state,” continued President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, “requires every public organisation to respond to complex challenges that life sends today. To find most optimal approaches to addressing these challenges it is necessary to carry out the well thought-out day-to-day work and act to meet modern requirements and cope with the tasks assigned.”
Underlining the need to optimize the activity of public organisations of the country given the modern realities, the Turkmen leader said they would work independently so that they would feel a responsibility to the state and society. “For 20 years all public associations have gained enough experience of political and public activities to become truly pubic organisations,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasizing that they enjoyed the support of millions of citizens who are members of these organisations and support their work.
Noting that the Galkynys National Movement has fulfilled the tasks assigned to it at the present stage of political and social development of the country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov put forward the proposal to adopt the decision to suspend the activity of the Galkynys National Movement in accordance with Paragraph 4, Chapter 5 of the Charter of the Galkynys National Movement.
Delegates and guests to the Congress greeted the speech of President of Turkmenistan, Chairman of the Galkynys National Movement and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with stormy applause.
Activists of public organisations and people of different professions and occupations participated in the debates. Among them were Head of the Department of the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute, a member of the Political Council of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Nuryagdy Suvhanov, deputy director of school 25 from Dashoguz Oguldursun Taganova, head of the sector of Turkmenabat town committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan Bagtyyar Derkarov, department head of the National Institute of Manuscripts of head of the department of the National Institute of Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences Rahimmammet Smoking, a foruth-year student of the Faculty of Philology of Magtymguly State University Resul Gayypsahedov, a carpet maker of the carpet factory from Serdar town of Balkan Velayat Gulyalek Ovezova.
In their speeches they expressed support for the Turkmen leader’s national and foreign policies aimed at the wellbeing of the Turkmen people and the prosperity of the beloved Motherland. Emphasis was put on the achievements gained in various areas of development of the modern Turkmen state and society. Representatives of the younger generation of the Turkmen people enthusiastically expressed gratitude to the Turkmen leader for providing the opportunities to actively participate in the affairs of the state and society, receiving education inside the country and at leading higher educational institutions abroad and realizing their talents.
Meeting participants underlined the significance of the ambitious reforms implemented on the initiatives and under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in promoting the scientific sphere, strengthening the material and technical basis of the Academy of Sciences and institutions of higher education of the country and creating the vast opportunities for professional development of Turkmen scientists. Also emphasis was placed on the Turkmen leader’s contribution to preserving, studying, publishing and promoting the spiritual heritage of the Turkmen nation all over the world and enriching the unique traditions of the Turkmen people.
Expressing deep gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the high evaluation of the activity of Galkynys National Movement and public organisations, members of the Movement, delegates to the Congress supported this proposal and called for optimizing further the activities of public organisations and intensifying and updating forms and methods of the modern realities and intensification and renovation social organizations of civil society with the realities of modern times, enhance and update the forms and methods of propaganda work.
Speaking about the plans to be implemented, meeting participants paid special attention to the issues related to patriotic and moral youth education and wide involvement of the younger generation of Turkmen citizens in the ongoing processes of reforms in the country. The major tasks assigned to public organisations included promoting, elucidating and implementing the Turkmen leader’s national programmes aimed at the wellbeing and prosperity of the Motherland, every citizen, encouraging people to reach the heights of patriotism, civic and moral duty to the beloved Motherland, inspiring compatriots to gain new accomplishments for the benefit of the country, emphasized members of the public organisations.
After the debates were concluded, the draft Resolution of the Congress of the Galkynys National Movement was put to the vote. Delegates to the Congress adopted it unanimously. The Resolution on the cessation of activity of the Galkynys National Movement was signed.

The agenda items included the nomination of a candidate for the Presidency of Turkmenistan. In accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “Oт the Election of the President of Turkmenistan” the presidential election will be held on February 12, 2012.
The floor was given delegates to the Congress: a resident of Ak Bugday Etrap, retiree Meret Ishangulyev, Chairman of the Serdar town committee of trade unions Emin Ashirov, a history teacher of school 2 from Ruhabat Etrap Bekmurad Amanov, Chairman of the committee of trade unions of the Turkmen State Institute of Transport and Communications Bazargeldy Toraev, a party activist from Mary Velayat Hekimberdy Orazberdyev, Manager of the Department of the Ashgabat town committee of Magtymguly Youth Organization Shemshat Annagulyeva.
Following one another, activists of the public organisations, people of different ages and professions appeared on the stage. Illustrating their speech with concrete facts, each of them nominated the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as a candidate for the Presidency. It was unanimously stated that the progressive reforms successfully implemented on the initiative of the Turkmen leader in the education, science, social, agricultural and cultural sectors aroused great enthusiasm among and ardently supported by all citizens of Turkmenistan.
Since Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assumed high public office, he has been consistently and steadily pursuing the policy aimed at improving the people’s welfare and creating the favourable conditions for their work and recreation. Those speaking emphasized that numerous unprecedented social benefits and an annual increase in salary, allowances, pensions and scholarships evidenced the social orientation of the Turkmen leader’s political strategy. Delegates to the Congress noted that the Turkmen leader set an example of great love for the Motherland to all citizens of Turkmenistan; his example inspired the people to work enthusiastically and effectively, do sports, lead a healthy lifestyle and grow and develop spiritually.
Those speaking at the meeting noted that due to the managerial talent, great capacity for work and inexhaustible selfless activity of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a prominent politician and statesman of our time, Turkmenistan had turned into an economically strong, self-sufficient state with the multifaceted, truly tremendous potential for an unprecedentedly short historical period. Our towns and villages have changed beyond recognition; large-scale industrial complexes and various social and cultural facilities have been built and operate in the regions throughout the country; ambitious international projects have been launched. Through the Turkmen leader’s concern the national art has flowered with new colours and facets, centuries-old traditions and ancestors’ customs have gained a second wind.
Those speaking at the meeting noted that it was gratifying to know that the grandiose reforms and accomplishments were taking place in not only our wonderful capital but also most remote regions of the country where construction work had been launched; an enthusiastic and creative atmosphere reigned everywhere.
Those speaking underscored the topicality of the Turkmen leader’s initiatives aimed at applying scientific advances in all spheres of life of the Turkmen state and society, developing innovative technologies and creating the knowledge-based information society.
Particular attention was paid to the Turkmen leader’s foreign policy activity. It was emphasized that the opportunities to implement the economic potential had been greatly expanded through the tireless efforts of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Turkmenistan’s prestige in the world arena. Those speaking noted that numerous foreign awards and titles presented to the leader of Turkmenistan evidenced the high evaluation of the Turkmen leader’s activities.
Activists of the public organisations emphasized that during their visits to regions and meetings with local citizens they felt support of the people for the activities of the Turkmen leader whom they called Arkadag and expressed the opinion of millions of their compatriots by proposing the Turkmen leader as a candidate for the presidential election.
Summing up the delegates’ speeches, the Chairman said numerous proposals to nominate the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the presidential election had come from members of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan from all regions of the country and citizens who backed the incumbent President for the Presidency.
Taking account of these proposals President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was unanimously nominated as a candidate for the presidential election to be called on February 12 during the joint meeting of the Democratic Party, trade unions, Magtymguly Youth Organisation, the Veterans’ Organisation and the Women’s Union.
Then the Draft Resolution on the nomination of incumbent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as a candidate for the presidential election to be called on February 12, 2012 was read out. Participants of the joint meeting unanimously adopted this Resolution.

Activists of public organisations rose to their feet to greet their candidate for the Presidency – the Turkmen leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. That event became new evidence for the boundless respect and trust of the people in their leader, whose progressive and forward-looking national and foreign policies had initiated the epoch of new Revival of the independent neutral Turkmen state, its present outstanding achievements.
Cordially thanking compatriots, representative of party and public organisation for their trust, the Turkmen leader emphasized that he viewed particularly the fact of the nomination of his candidacy for the Presidency as evidence of recognition of the effectiveness of the important and large-scale work launched together with the people to reform all spheres of life of the Turkmen state and society. “I want to express gratitude to the beloved Turkmen people the service to whom I consider to be the highest goal of my life and activity,” said the Turkmen leader.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said he considered it an honour and awesome responsibility to run for the Presidency for the second time. “Therefore, I consider our meeting which is taking place at the end of the year of the glorious 20th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan,” said the Turkmen leader, “a splendid opportunity to report to citizens of the country and identify our common objectives for the future."
“At the present stage, when political and economic foundations of state independence have been laid,” -continued the Turkmen leader, “the time sends us new challenges which require modernisation of all spheres of life of the Turkmen state and society given the ongoing global political and economic changes.
“The social vector has been and remains a major component of the unique model of economic development of Turkmenistan in the new historical epoch,” said the President. “The meaningful principle “a state for the people” reflects the essence and content of all the large-scale reforms we are implementing,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressing firm belief that the tremendous resource potential of the natural wealth of Turkmenistan, the opportunities it opens up will be used further to ensure close interrelations between the economic and social development factors.
“All my concerns are in the service to my people,” said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressing compatriots. I see my duty to the people,” said the Turkmen leader, “in creating the conditions conducive to increasing confidence of citizens in the prosperous and peaceful future and enhancing the international prestige of independent neutral Turkmenistan and the prosperity of the Motherland!”
“I believe that together we will be able to realize all our dreams and ambitious plans to build a strong state and modern highly developed society in the name of happiness and welfare of every citizen of our country, the Turkmen people! Long live the epoch of new Revival and great reforms of our brave people! Long live the Turkmen people! Long live our Fatherland –Turkmenistan!”
