The preparations for the important political campaign – the upcoming election of the President of Turkmenistan are under way. Currently, candidates are campaigning for the presidential nomination in accordance with the national election law. In accordance with the Resolution of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, the presidential election in Turkmenistan will be held on 12th February, 2012. The governing principle of the campaign is the alternative basis as an indispensable condition for strengthening the age-old democratic traditions in the Turkmen society.
A joint meeting involving representatives of the association of consumer societies and agricultural workers of our country was held at the Turkmen Agricultural University. The main agenda item was the nomination of Dashoguz Velayat Deputy Khyakim in charge of the agricultural sector Rejep Bazarov as a candidate in the 2012 presidential election.
Those speaking at the meeting characterized R. Bazarov as a talented manager who had significantly contributed to developing the agricultural sector in the region and demonstrated the outstanding personal qualities. Meeting participants adopted the decision to nominate him as a candidate for the presidential election.
Thanking for giving him a vote of confidence, Rejep Bazarov assured that he would apply every effort and experience to justify it.
The relevant resolution was adopted during the meeting and forwarded to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan.
An initiative group held the first meeting at the Ruhnama Centre of the Turkmenabat silk production association to determine the presidential nominee for this initiative group. The meeting brought together 350 participants from various towns and villages of the eastern region of the country.
The initiative group members considered the proposals for the nomination of a presidential candidate during the meeting. Vice Chairman of the State Se and River Transport Service, Acting Chairman of the Lebapderyayollary Production Association Rozygeldi Tachevich Rozygulyev got the nomination. The meeting was conducted in accordance with established procedures.

An initiative group held the first meeting in the administrative centre of Halach Etrap in Lebap velayat to determine the presidential nominee for this initiative group. The meeting was conducted in accordance with established procedures.
The proposal to nominate Halach Etrap Khyakim Myratgeldi Jumageldiev as a candidate for the presidential election was put on the meeting agenda.
Those speaking at the meeting characterized M. Jumageldiev as a prudent and talented manager and good family man and approved the proposed candidate.
Thanking for nominating him a presidential candidate, the Halch Etrap Khyakim assured that he would spare no effort to justify the people’s trust.
The initiative group forwarded the minutes of the meeting to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda of Turkmenistan and applied for registration.
All meetings were conducted in an open and transparent atmosphere that allowed citizens to exercise the constitutional right to participate in managing public and state affairs.
Within the next few weeks the initiative groups will start to collect at least 10,000 signatures in 30% of towns and etraps of Turkmenistan required in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Election of the President of Turkmenistan” to register nominees as candidates in the presidential election.
