The Central Commission for Election and Referenda held a regular meeting in the framework of the presidential nomination campaign. The members of the Central Commission and the Central Office of the Central Commission, national observers, journalists and chairmen of the initiative groups that nominate presidential candidates participated in the meeting.
The main agenda item was registration of the new initiative groups. After considering the registration applications and the minutes of meetings, the Central Commission registered the groups in accordance with the established procedure. These included the initiative group that nominates Director of the Cotton Growing Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture Yagmyr Amandurdyevich Orazov; the initiative groups that nominates Gurbansoltan Eje Etrap Khyakim Begench Meretdurdyevich Borjakov.
The initiative group leaders received registration cards and subscription lists and were informed in detail of their authorities and signature gathering procedure.
Henceforth, the initiative groups are to collect at least 10,000 signatures in one-third of towns and etraps throughout the country required to register nominees as presidential candidates in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan “On the Election of the President of Turkmenistan”.
