The Central Commission for Election and Referenda held a regular meeting in the framework of the nomination campaign. The members of the Central Commission and the Central Office of the Central Commission, national observers and journalists participated in the meeting.
The main agenda item was the registration of presidential candidates who had been nominated by the public associations, candidates’ organisations and initiative groups. Head of the Lebapgurlusyk Production Association of the Ministry of Construction of Turkmenistan E. Gayypov, Director of the Geokdepe cotton spinning mill S. Batyrov and Minister of Energy and Industry Ya. Orazgulyev were registered in accordance with current law of Turkmenistan. All candidates received the certificates.
After the registration process is completed, the canvassing campaign will start according to schedule approved during the meeting of the Central Commission for Election and Referenda. The campaign focuses on meeting with the electorate and appearing on TV and radio. The election commissions and local governments in collaboration with the heads of enterprises, institutions and organisations are responsible for organizing the assemblies and meetings of the presidential candidates and their authorized representatives with the electorate according to the law. All the candidates are provided with the equal rights and opportunity to present their proposals and approaches to implementing the large-scale development programmes and improving further the social and living conditions of citizens.
The voters have the right to freely and thoroughly discuss the political, business and personal characteristics of each presidential candidate during the meetings and in the media. This will help the electorate to learn about the election pledges of each presidential nominee and make a choice for the worthiest candidate for the presidency.
National observers and representatives of the international organisations will monitor the election process. Over 2,300 national observers representing the public associations and organisations of Turkmenistan have been registered in the country.
The organisational activities to hold the important political campaign in a proper and timely manner are continued throughout the country.
