Independent neutral Turkmenistan celebrated the New Year 2012 like a big friendly family placing the brightest and highest hopes and expectancies on it. The main celebrations on New Year’s Eve took place on the square in front of the Monument to the Constitution of Turkmenistan where numerous citizens and guests of Ashgabat gathered together. The TV space bridge allowed citizens of all five regions of the country to take part in the New Year’s celebrations.
The tallest New Year’s tree in the country was placed near the Monument to the Constitution – the magnificent monument symbolizing the prosperity of the state in the epoch of new Revival and the aspiration of independent neutral Turkmenistan for peace, democracy and progress. It is the Constitution that lays the firm foundation for the realization of the thesis that an individual is the highest value of the state and society.
The brightest and most significant events of the year 2011 were demonstrated on the big monitors placed near the concert stage. Every day of the last year filled with diligent labour added new facts testifying to the high international prestige and economic strength of Turkmenistan and the welfare of the people and spiritual revival of the nation to the historical chronicle of our country.
“Innovative development is a guarantee for the prosperity of independent Turkmenistan,” says the Turkmen leader. “We should consolidate the achievements gained in 2011, facilitate further diversification and intensive development of the national economy on an innovative platform and fulfil the concrete projects contributing to the welfare of the people and the prosperity and progress of the Motherland,” emphasizes President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
A bright festive show was performed on the square round the beautiful New Year’s tree. The presenters congratulated President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on behalf of all participants in the celebrations and wished him happiness, good health and every success in implementing the reforms launched by the Turkmen leader for the benefit of the Motherland in a new year.
The programme of the New Year celebrations included the concerts performed by singers and dance groups, circus and theatre artists from Ashgabat, humorists and amateur artistic groups with the participation of Ayaz Baba and Garpamyk.
The TV space bridge connected the regions of the country where the New Year celebrations had brought together local art groups and citizens to Ashgabat. They could join in the festivities taking place in the Turkmen capital.

These included the new buildings of the local history museums in Dashoguz, Lebap and Balkan Velayats, the Mary Velayat Library and the new international equestrian sports complex in Ahal Velayat. Among the projects successfully completed in 2011 are the Dovletabad-2 gas compressor station, the Turkmenabat-Karabekaul transmission line, the Yylgynagyz channel, the new building of the Yyly Suv hydropathic establishment in Baharly Etrap, new children’s recreation centres in Gekdere, the largest cement plant in Balkan Velayat, new infrastructure facilities on the Caspian seashore where the centre of international tourism and recreation is being formed. A new settlement was established on the Turkmen leader’s initiative in Koytendag Etrap in Lebap Velayat, the foundation stone of the industrial plant producing ammonia and carbamide was laid in Mary and the construction of a gas processing plant in Lebap Velayat was started.

A number of facilities and buildings were put into operation in the main city of the country in 2011. Each of them including the Monument to the Constitution and Monument of Neutrality, the town of arts and the economic complex, the business centre of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, the new building of the Halkbank State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan, the Palace of Congress and Bagt Kosgi, the Children’s World shopping and entertainment centre, the Turkmenistan TV and Radio Broadcasting Centre, the 10,000 seat winter sports complex and the Olimp sports school, the Ashgabat Hotel designed for 2,000 visitors, the 20,000 seat stadium and other facilities can become a visiting card of Ashgabat. They adorn the white-marble Turkmen capital that becomes more beautiful with every passing day.
