On the World Health Day, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the Olympic Village that is being constructed by the Polimeks Turkish Company. The first turn of construction of the grandiose sports facility is almost completed and some objects are ready to open its doors.
Among them are multifunctional sports gym, luxury hotel for journalists with the press-centre designed for 800 places, Business centre and seats for for 5,000 fans of various sports, sports fields and a restaurant designed for 1,000 guests.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov got acquainted with the indoor cycle track, visited the martial arts complex, power triathlon gym and a number of other facilities.
On the main indoor arena of the Olympic Village, the Turkmen leader had a meeting with Ambassador for Sports of the French Republic Mr. Jean Levy, who had arrived in the Turkmen capital to take part in the International Exhibition "Ashgabat - the Capital of the 2017 Asian Games".
During the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guest discussed the prospects of cooperation in development of basketball, football, cycle racing, tennis, rugby, and other popular sports.
The President of Turkmenistan and the Ambassador for Sports of the French Republic also focused on such issues as sports medicine and cooperation in the sphere of doping control.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Turkmenistan Pierre Lebovic attended the meeting.
In the afternoon, the President attended the ceremony of opening the Ice and Hockey Complex built on the territory of the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan. The President signed the Resolution on establishment of the Galkan Winter Sports Centre of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan and awarded keys to specialized buses to the Galkan and Nesil teams of the Ministry.
The festivities on the ice arena began with the demonstrative performances of young figure skaters. Then, the best hockey players of the country - Champion of Turkmenistan Galkan HC and the teams of Ashgabat hockey clubs appeared on the arena.
During the first break, the President of Turkmenistan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to Turkmenistan Oleg Tabanuhov.
Exchanging the views on the prospects of the relations between Turkmenistan and Belarus, the Turkmen leader and his guest focused on the further efficient cooperation in the sphere of economy and humanitarian area. Particular attention was paid to cooperation in the sphere of sport.
